Lazy Days Crown Club

I would like to ask for your assistance in what has become a very difficult matter. Many of our members are leaving their belongings behind on Crown Club service sites after their motor coach has been removed. This creates a hugh problem and inconvenience for our members, like you, who are about to check in for their service appointment.

Our Crown Club Membership Guidelines clearly states "Complimentary Crown Club site on the day prior to your service appointment (subject to availability)". The phrase "Subject to availability" is the hard part, as we are scheduling service appointments months in advance and must turn these sites quickly so that everyone can enjoy a service site the night prior to their appointment. In contrast to paid sites in RV parks or campgrounds, these complimentary RV sites are not reserved sites. They are membership amenities that are to be used according to the rules and regualtions of the Club.

Whenever possible we try to accomodate for delays in parts and our service schedule and will continue to do so with your assistance.
However, when another member is scheduled to occupy the site that your coach was on, we must insist that you remove all of your belongings from that site (including tow vehicles) and observe all of the Crown Club's rules and regulations. We have implemented these guidelines to help ensure equal access to the Club's facilities and a safe environment for all of our members.

I am a former member of the Crown Club, my coach has aged a bit so I'm not longer eligible for membership. I always really appreciated Lazy Days efforts to get me into a site on the day before my service appointment. I think they do a tremendous job of accomodating so many customers and I don't think they ever guaranteed that a site would be available. One thing that did bother me was the customers who abused the system by trying to hang onto their sites, even after their service was finished. I think that Lazy Days management has made the correct call so that they can continue to offer the site for newly arrived service customers. Rally Park is usually available and is right on Lazy Days premises at a reasonable price. I take it you disagree with their free site policy.

How would you do it differently and continue to accomodate the arriving units? Would you tell them to find a rv park at some distance so that those who had already had their free night prior to appointment could homestead a site?

Sorry, you read that wrong... I would rather them charge 50.00 a day but while in for service have some place available. Rally park is not always available.

This post was placed to notify the RV owner so they will not end up on the side of the street. I was there for seven weeks as they worked on my coach and one person was escorted out by the local sherriffs dept. He threatened to shoot someone for taking his site. The old west came alive.

That brings up another question...Wonder if the guy escorted out by the sheriff is "A customer for Life." I remember the days when every employee there had to greet everyone they met with "Welcome to Lazy Days, you're important to us." I can imagine a few of them got very sick of having to do that. They stopped that a few years ago but a few still do it on their own and I think those who do it actually mean it. I can't imagine how they handle all the business they have created there, it has got to be very difficult especially since the rv mfgs have pretty much eliminated their own quality program and allow their customers to do the QC as they try to use the coaches after purchasing them. I met folks at Lazy Days who spent several weeks there after taking delivery of their coach...just trying to get the built in bugs out. I think Lazy Days tries as hard as any service center to do it right but they may be in over their head now due to the sheer volume of rigs they have sold.

I sure did enjoy the new Crown Club facilities but not so much that I will buy a new rig to regain my membership....lol

I have spent many days, or maybe I should say pounds, during 4 trips to Lazydays as a member of the Crown Club. IMHO what these offenders of the Club policies are trying to do is not to really hold any particular site but rather to avoid the dreaded 'night in the bay'. In reality there are, when including the bays, many sites available at Lazydays and I have never found anyone there that moved over to the Rally Park or any other campground for that matter because they ran out of places to put people. Oh I agree maybe not the top spots, but somewhere nonetheless.
I found out very quickly that there are a lot of advantages to letting them do what they will with your coach. First staying in the bays quickly became my preference. The building blocks the noise from I-4 so it is nice and quiet. There is a very strong Wi-Fi signal in the bays so I can surf all evening to replace the 'boob tube' for a couple of nights. Of course one of the major complaints is the lights being on all night; but clearly this is a safety and insurance issue and they cannot shut them off. I know they would love to but they can't. My solution to that was to find a couple of large boxes laying around waiting for the rubbish. I cut window sized inserts and that took care of the light problem in the bedroom. The biggest advantage is that your coach is right in place the next morning and ready for them to continue where they left off the night before. Also you are right there and it will take some fancy talking on someone's part to explain why they are moving your half finished coach out in favor of someone else's. The net result is that your work gets completed in much quicker than the 'hang on to the site folks'. For the life of me I can't understand why these people have not figured this out. If they have then they are not there for service but rather a month's vacation.
I have been back to Lazydays four times in the last three years for extended service visits. Each year the problem gets worse. I have seen some incredible acts of selfish indifference to everyone but themselves. I saw one gentleman (loosely applied term) blast into a Service Rep for walking across his site. HIS SITE, can you believe it? Once on a rainy night I and a fellow next to me stood staring at two sites held by cars. It was 9:00pm and no coach or anyone else showed up on those sites that night. Once a couple pulled into a site and put out several large dog pens. They remained there for nearly two weeks and once they also never showed up that night. I have pictures of that one.
As much distaste as I have for these types of individuals, (you know them - they are the ones that pull out of a well merged construction traffic and run a mile up the left lane to squeeze in up front. They're the special ones that are better than us), I firmly place the blame for this problem squarely on the shoulders of Lazydays and I mean you Don Wallace. You attack this situation with wishy-washy memos and handouts that supposedly appeal to the sense of fair play of a group that clearly has none. Neither can you delegate the problem down to a workforce that runs with the fear of God that somebody might not proclaim to be a 'customer for life'. Give me a break Don, these people will not leave you. Just go out any day and see the childish tenacity with which they hang on. Remember they may win a lot of nights, but they don't win every night. I know because on my last 4-week visit I actually got to stay on a Crown Club site 3 nights. However it was not on my first night; that night I ended up squeezed in between the changeover coaches. That is the jist of my problem here. After parking my coach I walked through the Crown Club sites only to find an assortment of tow vehicles, barbeques, deck chairs, dog pens and so forth holding all of the available sites. What is wrong here. I arrived at around 1:30 in the afternoon. Either all of these people arrived before me, highly unlikely, or I had to give up my promised first night site to people that appeared to have been there many days. There is one thing to watch out for Lazydays and that is the silent majority. You know all about the vocal minority that yell and shout to stay on a site, but what about the likes of me and how that experience affected me.
This is a case of immature and childish behavior. Therefore, it should be treated with tactics that are appropriate to that kind of behavior. It is well know that children, despite their complaining efforts to the contrary, actually respect and desire consistent and well-structured discipline. It is time to step up to the bat. At the very least, Lazydays should clear as a minimum the number of sites adequate to assure that the incoming members have their night's site as promised. There are many logical and forceful (keyword forceful) ways to do this. I can think of several but I am not in the RV Sales business; but I am sure that it can be done. Get over the fear of a lost customer and start policing the Crown Club sites. After all these people have to live with all of the other police in the world and they will survive yours. Really, just take a look at their alternatives. There is a real possibility that someday one of these petty spats over sites is going to erupt in a very dangerous if not deadly situation forcing Lazydays to shut it down. Once again we will all loose to those 'you know who you ares'.

I agree with some of the things you stated. We had major work performed on our coach. Remove and install Windshield #4 and #5, restructure the front, new radiator installed, list to long to go into, but my point is that we also stayed in the bay for about a week and had no problem with it whatsoever. The goup that you spoke of would throw names around, and others would now have to wait for service that were there weeks prior. I know guns were in the waste band of there pants, waited for the gun fight. They need to do something, what, time will tell.

We are Lazy Days and Crown Club customers. I've thought a lot about saying anything about this for reasons that should be obvious but feel I have to do so if only to make clear what the law says.
Casually showing a weapon anywhere, pardon me in advance, is stupid on so many levels I don't know what to add in polite language other than it is illegal even with a permit. There is no provision in Florida concealed carry statute for open wear; which means carrying a weapon such that it is visible in any way. This a violation of the Florida statutes even if he/she is a permit holder. It is technically a "careless act" and a 1st degree misdemeanor, even for permit holders, with punishment as specified in Florida Statutes 790.10 with references to other statutes as well.

If someone has a weapon in view 911 should be called - immediately! It could be carelessness or a threat - either way it is illegal.
Note that there are legal self defense nonfirearm weapons that are legal for anyone to carry, including a stun gun that can look like a firearm if only partially visible. It's all in the statutes.
No I am not a lwayer but have extensive experience with regulatory laws and regulations, which merely means I should know what they mean. In this case my opinion was confirmed by a retired Florida police officer who teaches the required course for permit applicants.

I am happy that you agreed with some of my points but I am even more interested in the ones that you didn't. Also glad to see that not everyone has 'dreaded night in the bayitis'. I actually had a man in a then new Magna 630 say to me and I quote 'No way in hell am I staying in a bay'. And just what makes him so privileged above everyone else. Clearly someone that is just used to having his own way at any cost either to himself or anyone else. Someone mentioned paying for the sites, I forget who now. Ask me how much that I think that someone would pay that places so little value on his own sense of humanity, character and self esteem. Or, on the other hand maybe the prices would soar as they all try to outbid each other ending up paying possibly thousands to keep that site. Robert in a later post wanted to inform us of the laws regarding carry concealed guns etc. I thank him for that very informative link but where are we all headed when that is a necessary piece of information regarding Crown Club sites.
The system set up by Lazydays is intended to provide people arriving for service a site for that night and that night only. What about beyond that? Well there are usually more sites in the crown club than arrivals normally but in the interest of fair play everyone should abide by the luck of the draw. When they are done with your coach for the day they bring them out to EMPTY Crown Club sites. Once full then the rest will be brought to other arrangements or stay in bays. If that system is followed then everyone will have their fair share of the good with the bad. Obviously I was highly offended by what I witnessed in the Crown Club sites on my last visit and that could be 'last' in a very literal sense of the word. I guess that it goes beyond offended to appalled. I would like just once to have someone that practices 'site holding' stand up and defend in clear and logical terms why that practice is justifiable.
I doubt if it will ever happen but I would love to converse with whomever it is.

Maybe much concernation would be avoided if people were made aware ahead of time that they will be provided with a site the night b4 service only and they could quite possibly be spending nights in the service bay to expedite their service.
