Anybody heading to Santa Barbara next week from Oregon?

I'm concerned about running my rig over the Siskiyou's. Some snow and wind predicted for most of next week. YIKES! I don't want to miss the rally that I've paid for!

Leave a day early and take I-5 south to OR 38 (just south of Eugene) to Reedsport and Hwy 101. Take 101 to CA 20 (just south of Willits). 20 rejoins I-5 just north of Dunnigan. The only exciting part is through the redwoods but its better than snow and ice in the Siskiyous.

Glen, if you time your passage over the pass for mid-day, you should be OK...the daytime temps for the days are still going to be pretty warm for next week. The coast might get some pretty fierce winds with Monday's storm, though, so I would worry about that way, too...
You know about the ODOT 'net page, right? If not, Google it, and just keep an eye on the pass up to the last minute and make your run for it...that's what we did coming up from San Diego...laid over in Redding and timed it for middle of the day when the sun had warmed it up enough. You could do the same from So. Or...lay over and make your decision based on the day...coast or mountains....pick your poison! Wind or Ice.

PS..on I-5, there's a good RV park at the Patterson exit (Kit Fox RV Park), also one at the Route 12/I-5 exit in Lodi across from the Flying J (Flag City RV Park)...both are good stopovers for that middle area of I-5...much needed for Big Rigs.
