Dogs and Thieves

Two Cairn Terriers here ... like Toto in the Wizard of Oz ...

Ellie and Dori, and they will tear up anything that comes close, if they can reach it.

I especially hope the perp doesn't say "and your little dog too ...", that would be ugly.

Sorry to you purists if this thread took a sudden turn to the non technical ... heh, heh.

They are in crates when we are moving but when stopped not only the couch but also the bed. Great dogs. Two are retired champions that are lure coursing and a 1o month old pup that just got his champioship. He is just starting his show career.

We have dos (two) goldens and they bark all of the time, even when we are with them.

Would scare the dead, but would lick them to death, just like Sasha.

'tis not the size, aggression nor bite of the dog that protects the coach from being vandalized but merely the noise of the barking critter that draws attention to the coach being entered uninvited. That is why we feel our lovable Aussie and tiny Shih-Tzu are our best "protection" whenever we're away from the coach and "the boys" are left at home.

You just gotta love em... :-)

Fortunately I have a big orange and black "Beware of Dog" sign that I use when I leave and I keep the drapes closed and the tv on so no one really knows if everyone is gone or if the dog is friendly. he tends too act "tough" when we are walking... fools most people for a few mintues anyhow...

So another trick is to buy one of those motion sensor recorded dog barking boxes.(you never have to feed or walk it) BUT it never gives you any love either..

I think Smarthome.com has them.

Keep the blinds closed, put a "Watch out for dog!" sign in the window. And see what happens. At least it is better then nothing.

We had one of those. She warned of extreme violence when she heard friends & family. First sound of strange car or voice was her clue to hide. What thief would be afraid of a silent hidden dog? ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The bark of a dog is the best deterent, next to looking down the barrel of a gun.
Thieves will by past a house with a barking dog in favor of a house with the lights on.
No one will take a chance at being bit.
We travel with our dogs all the time. They love people and express it by barking.
The chance of being robbed are definitely reduced by having a dog that barks. Better than having a automotive alarm, which no one pays attention too.
P.S. We spent 17 days on the road, going thru the eastern part of Canada WITH 20 DOGS. We had to ask the border guard in northern Maine to come on board and review our dogs and health records. Had to tell him it was ok, safe, no bites, etc.
He enjoyed being mauled, etc.
