steps coming out while driving 06 allure

Yahoo Message Number: 23393
Just picked up my rig on Monday and during the drive yesterday the steps would come out once in a while whiel driving -- NOT a fun experience.

Over about 8 hours of driving they came out about 5 times. Except for 1 time the dash light for steps out would light as well.
I'm going in for service in a few weeks and will have them look at it but was wondering if anyone else was having this type of problem and if so what the resolution might be?

Thanks!

It could be the door switch. Where the door makes contact with the plunger-type switch in the door frame. Maybe it's not pushing the plunger switch in (to off) when the door is closed. Kinda like your fridge light switch that activates when you open the fridge door. Try shimming the plunger switch, or the door contact with something like tape to cause the plunger-switch to depress further in when the door is closed. This could be a temporary fix until you can get the switch adjusted. Or, maybe you can adjust the switch yourself. Not saying that this is the problem, but it could be. Good luck.

I have experienced the same problem on my Inspire and traced it to the door switch. The door switch internal springs are not coated and will rust and break. As the springs weaken, contact is broken between the spring loaded contactors. I also found that the door switch contactors need to be polished every so often with fine emory paper to ensure a good contact. I posted a photo of my fix to this problem several months back. You might want to check it out.
