Fellow Owners

After 4 years my Michelin XZEs are beginning to show sidewall checking. Having survived 5 tread separations on Michelins (on various vehicles), and CCs repeated micalculations on axle bearing weights I'm more than a little paranoid on the subject of tires. Hence two questions for the group:

1)What are current recommendations (BRAND AND SIZE) FOR 4 REAR TIRES FOR 40 FT INTRIGUE.

2)What is true difference between tires for TRUCKS as
opposed to RVs. Please no IMHOs. I've looked on several web pages (including Michelin's) and cannot find a definitive statement as to real differences between the two.

I'm by no means an expert, but, having had two seperations on GoodYears I know how you feel. As far as I know the difference between the two types is tread configeration (truck tires CAN have a more aggressive tread), tread depth (RV tires have shallower tread depth for cooler and less resistive running and you never wear out an RV tire), softer compound in the rubber for more traction and less lifetime mileage and more UV inhibators to extend the life. Running a tire causes the ingrediants in the tire to migrate to the surface to protect the tire from the sun and weather. RV tires don't run enought to keep the surface of the rubber "moist".
