additives

Fred always has good info on just about anything. Thanks Fred. But, aren't we talking apples and oranges here. Oil additives are different animal from fuel additives. Try running a non oil injected two cycle engine (older motorcycles, most two cycle race bikes, older outboards, etc.) without mixing the gas with an oil. Instant seizure. You old motorcycle racers know what I am talking about. I have no idea if an oil additive is needed or not, but the best idea I have heard on this forum is using Quicksilver outboard two cycle oil. Like someone said before, it is made to lubricate and burn cleanly. Having said all that, I can't imagine the diesel engine manufactures not urging some kind of additive (if they thought it was needed) to protect their hundreds of thousands of in warranty engines. You know they don't want to be making warranty repairs. The RV industry is a small group compared to all the big trucks, pickups, etc. out there. Just my .01 cents worth. My opinion has never been worth .02 cents. Is this a great country or what?
