Buying from Country Coach -- puzzle question

Yahoo Message Number: 35014
Marti, why are they using the same windows that fog the same way for 10 years ? Look at the posts for this item. A knowing poor product and every window sold doomed for failure. Does this make any sense ? This is where the I don't understand why the windows are still used ? Does Country Coach own that company ? AL

Just for the record; all of my windows are OK. None have the "snake" or fog problem. Any one else?

Al, actually I think your question has already been answered by some of the other Country Coach members. This is not a one size fits all problem and the major majority of customers have no problem with the window. I have several older Country Coaches on my lot right now and the windows are fine. I did thou forward your e mail on to my Country Coach rep who was going to investigate a little further. No Country does not own the company and this window is used by many other manufacturers. I have some snaking in a few windows, but no fogging and the snaking
is minimal. I'm not worried about it. I have seen worse snaking (while shopping), but not fogging at all. Not sure if climate might not play some part in how the windows last...

Of course Marti I have seen the posts from other members about the windows. Thanks for reminding me of that fact.
I think you will find Marti as you are a "high line sales consultant" that the majority of the owners have had window problems and continue to have window problems. This is an example of again passing the buck on to another person to do the investigating. As you put it so well " a little further" The key word is "little".

My 04 Inspire has a fogged toll window and front left slide window is starting to fog. In certain light conditions the toll window is very dangerous, you can't see the mirror. My authorized CC repair place is working with CC now on replacing them under warranty. My windows show no sign of the "snaking seals"

I believe that it is not a matter of "if," but rather "when" the windows fail. I had some replaces under the silent warranty, but since nearly all windows have failed. This is an ongoing problem, and it is very disconcerting that it continues to be a problem. I for one will speak with my wallet, when it comes time for a new coach. I may even keep the coach I have, and just put Peninsula Glass windows in. The coach has been relatively trouble free, but I personally think it is because it was built on a Gilllig chassis. We had dbeen looking at late model used Prevosts, but my wife's illness has put the minor things of life on hold.

Thanks

Larry, four years and 60,000 miles on my windows. One panel went bad and I paid to replace but CC installed at no charge at a rally. All other windows no problem.

I have a Country Coach Intrigue and frankly I think it is a great coach and I think the Country Coach manufacturing and service teams are also great and among the best in the industry.

BUT-- "major majority of customers have no problem with the window"

Don't try to convince people that the SeGi window issue is not a problem. That is a lot of salesman BS. Anyone that has spent any time on this forum knows better. Of course there are owners that do not have the problem. If not, CC would be out of business.

A couple of years ago I compiled a list of people that had the SeGi problem and in 8 weeks time I got 78 responses of people with the problem. Some were helped some were not.

From a quality point of view this window problem is an absolute disaster. No one in any industry that I am aware of would ever claim that a problem of this magnitude is acceptable.

I also did a little random review at the 2005 Rally in Perry GA.
Debi and I try to walk briskly for at least an hour every day. One evening we walked through the asiles of RV's for approximately 1 hour after dark (so the lights were on in the coaches) just to see how many "snaking windows we could find on CC's. We found 29 CC's, 3 had no lights on so we couldn't see if they had a problem, 17 had at least one snaking window. OK, it was very unscientific but the result was close to 50%.

Of all of those perfect coaches on your lot how many have already had windows replaced?

Well I try not to rant on here but can't stand by and listen to such a blatent disregard for facts. There is a problem, not on 100% of the coaches but on more than there should be. I don't recall anyone ever stating that 100% of the windows have the problem. I don't think any one would dispute that, except perhaps for another sales person.

Even Country Coach has recognized that it is a problem and that is why they step up to helping owners for up to 6 years. This speaks to the excellent quality of the service at Country Coach. They don't try to convince people that it does not exist but instead they try to offer reasonable help (as they always have).

Joey and Debi... Gordo here.

While we as CC owners have had our share of problems with SE-GI windows (myself included). What I think we are forgetting is there are other brands out there with the very same SE-GI windows. Safari and Beaver come straight to mind (pre 02). These other units are having the very same problems also.

So why is it a window manufacture is allowed to continue building these defective units for the past 13 years? Why is that CC keeps using a known problematic supplier? When Monaco bought SMC in 01 (Safari/Beaver) and thew SE-GI window manufacturing off the Safari- Beaver assembly line in 02 due to what I can only figure as "just another RV suppler headache" they (Monaco) didn't need to subject their customer base to (or themselves).
So why is it that CC keeps subjecting their customer base (and their own warrantee department) to these known problematic windows? Understanding there are other window manufactures without such issues (fogging or unsightly snaking window seals). My 98 Holiday Rambler did NOT use SE-GI windows and were dual pane... Never a fogging or seal issue. So I know that there are better choices for CC to investigate. It certainly can't be cost factor... As we all know CC don't come cheap, and I doubt any would bark at spending a few hundred more for problem free window hardware.

Does anyone know if CC monitors this message board? If Not they should be... As I see this message board; an untapped source of customer feedback without any candy coating(s).
