country coach pricing

I would like to purchase a 45 ft Intrigue and would appreciate input as to what dealerships have I the most competitive pricing. Also what sort of discount from list is considered a good deal. In the past I have used a Montana LLC to purchase a coach ( last one was a 2003 Foretravel) is this still a good way to purchaseI Thanks for the input-anxious to hit the road again.

Jim,

Using MT as your licensing state is good, because you will save the sales tax (which can be as high as 9% in WA).

We found LazyDays, in FL, gave us the best price when we bought our coach in 2000. Contact Joe Rivard, 800-626-7800 X4299, and tell him Brad & Sharron Ward sent you. Obviously, it would be wise to send your specs to several dealers for a quote. After hearing all of the bad reports on this site, I would not bother with McMahon's RV.

Good luck,
Brad Ward

Everything is not the same as it used to be.
Lazy Days no longer prices as it did even a few years ago. I would also consider BUDDY GREGG RV. They aslos carry a large stock of COUNTRY COACHES.

I just purchased an 2006 Allure. I shopped all over the place, and found that between 25 27 % seems to be the magic number.
Second issues is trade, I choose to sale mine myself, but was late in getting it to marked, and I found that Service, Financing, and warrant was a big issue. I now have consigned to CC Showcase in SAC. Lastly I bought my unit at McMahon's as this was the best price. That has proven to be a big mistake, since I now have to take the coach down Holland in San Diego.
My conclusion is the best price is not always the best deal. Look and the Service Dept. meet the Mgr. see parts dept. Just hang out there without the emotions of buying. Things you should see are 50amp. Power drops for the in service RV, cords in the service areas where unit are put waiting parts etc. Neat tool organization. Clean and looking coordinated, that is you can find the service mgr, and the parts dept. Look at what other brands they sell. This is very important and was my biggest mistake. McMahon's sells twice as many trailers, and low end RV's so there the dept. my look large but there is not room for real service. I Think this is my best observation. Many times you will go the dealer and there will be something wrong with the unit, mirror does work, battery dead, some strange sound etc. RED FLAGE ALERT ALERT. The salemans always says they will take care of it in Preparation for Delivery. Why doesn't that happen? They did not have enough service tech.s for this high end units, and therefore any returning work lines up with everyother unit they sale. If they care enought the coach should be perfect, and with the proper staffing usually is. I never found a defect on an Holland unit for sale, that was an important message.
I have owned my coach for 12 months, It has been in various service centers for over 8 weeks, for what has been maybe 15 hours of repair, most of the time there are either waiting for a part, (which they have forgot to order) or they just to not have the personnel.
My last point is getting the truth is all you really need, I feel that I knew the salesman was overextending the truth, but emotion had me and I went ahead.
I bought my first unit from Guaranty Junction, the second from McMahons which is three miles from my house. Now haveing service work at Holland. Depending on your own mechancial abitiy a lot of issues are real easy fix.
Though you didn't asked, I would never buy a new unit again. There are just to many High End units for sale with less and 10,000 miles. Now you get a real disount.

We purchased our coach earlier this year from a wholesale/liquidator in San Antonio, TX. Paid way below wholesale. You might have to wait for the right coach to become available as we did. Call Sabin Klinefelter, 210.789.6234. Remember this is not a retail outfit so do your homework. We are very satisfied. Tell Tiffany and Sabin we say Hi.

As for as Montany LLC, you would be best to check with your local state authorities.. as many are visiting this tax loop hole in their tax regs. In our state of Calif, they will charge a penalty if they discover "you".

Many of the states are cooperating with each other too.

Just a thought.

If you check with Buddy Gregg in Texas, try to get Justin McLeod as your salesman. He was great with us, but left Beaudry because their service department did not live up to the Country Coach name.

25% off MSRP seems to be what I am hearing is about right.
Of course, I'd try for more, what with the fuel price situation, which if it hasn't yet, might well cause a signficant softening in the RV marketplace.

We like working with Susan Graham at Guaranty RV in Junction City, Oregon. WE can change anything within reason on the coach-all the way down to the fabrics on the pillows, want a whirlpool washer-done, want AC controls on pass. Side, want a dishwasher/ etc. You can meet with the designers, engineers, interior decorators. We just spent two days ordering our new one.
As to question #2-what state do you live in? If CA-new rules- out of state at least 90 days-obtain this certain form attach your out of state receipts and receive a certificate to take to DMV...DONE-that is why our coach is set to come off lione late April or May-we will be out of CA all summer-If you really need to come back in document a service call in CA and number of days-but why when service is convered for one year in JC=we'll just take toad or fly home as needed-a lot of flights to take to cover over $35,000.!!

Jim,

Contact Jimmy Bergman with Motor Homes of Texas in Nacogdoches. His number is 800-651-1112 or 936-715-5394 and they are the newest CC dealer in Texas & have two '08 45 ft. Intrigue Ovations with 4 slides. They need to move inventory and I suspect will deal with you. They would be first on my list to call if I walked in your shoes.

You would be well advised to shop yourself, in person, to see the disparity in pricing between dealers. Good luck.

$35,000.!!

Are these "NEW" new rules for CA? Last I had heard (several years ago), they had changed them a few years ago that made you stay out of state FOR A YEAR with documentation of being on the road, etc. Did they change it back to 90 days?

Hi Jim,

The registration would be up to each person's personal preference and where your residence is. I am in California. The current law has changed where it is not only necessary to stay out of state for 90 days so for me, that makes more sense than the Montana LLC.
The dealer's are about the same---it has a lot to do with personalities, location, etc. I feel that you can get 25-27% off the suggested list price. It seems to always be better to purchase where you expect to have service done even if you pay a few dollars more. You will get better service from the selling dealer.
I have had many Country Coaches and would like to know why you are considering a CC rather than another Foretravel. I am considering purchasing a Foretravel. I would be interested in knowing any issues that you have had with Foretravel.

Just a few words of caution. The reversion to the 90 day out of state rule may not be around very long.

My take is that this is not a popular law with many in CA. Government circles and I suspect it will be revised back to one year. This could happen without much notice.

Right or wrong, fair or unfair, this could happen.

Whatever any of you CA residents decided to do, make sure you get the latest Board of Equalization rules that show the 90 day rule in writing and follow the instructions to the letter of the law.

You may have a window of opportunity but rest assured the Board of Equalization will be very aggressive in making sure the rules have been followed (As they should be).

That's my few cents.

Actually the Gov. did it and since he had no approval he could only suspend the policy for a number of years, then it automatically back. I did and passed. I kept the unit in Las Vegas and did all the outfitting there. Had warranty issues worked on at Wheelers which did carry CC. Then to make sure I went on our first and collected all the receipts necessary, then scanned the file, sent my excemption at it was approved.

Thank you, Jim Spivey
