Hurricane Heater Problem

We are not getting much heat from our Hurricane. The unit will run for an hour and the water temp out of the unit is in the 100-105 range.
Hurricane says it should be 150-180. The unit has been serviced, the pumps run, plenty of coolant, etc. but very little heat fron the Red Dots inside the coach. It took over two hours of steady running to raise the temp inside the coach 9 degrees.

Don,

If you're not getting flameouts or any fault codes, you might have fuel delivery issues.

Check the obvious first, that being the fuel filter. Next in line would be the fuel pump, fuel regulator, and then the fuel solenoid.
I went through this with ITR a while back and it ended up being the solenoid.

There are some good training videos below that demonstrate the replacing of these components.

Rob,

As they say, been there done that. Right now, it seems to be running ok using an external fuel tank. I did read here on the group that someone had a bad fuel line that had to be replaced. The unit will run with the bypass open but as soon as you close the bypass, it will die in 30 seconds or so. I am at Carrier & Sons and there is another coach in here that had the same problem and a new fuel line cured it. Funny that after reading about it, I run into someone that had the same problem.

Thanks for the assist.

These videos are very interesting and revealing. After watching them I would urge anyone interested to have a close look at Espar coolant heaters for comparison.
IMHO, the Espar units are far superior.
http://www.espar.com/html/products/coolantheaters.html I have no financial interest in Espar...just a satisfied owner of an H10.

What does the flame look like through the sight glass? Should be almost white.
