Coolant leak alert

Yahoo Message Number: 39983
I have an 06 Allure. The coolant lines running from the sight glass reservior on the right side of the engine compartment were run across the top of the engine and attached to the top of the compressor with wire ties. There was nothing to protect the coolant lines from the heat of the compressor or the vibrations of the engine. Over time (my coach is 3 years old) the coolant lines touching the compressor will develop holes and leak. This occurred on mine and I lost 2 gallons of coolant while driving. The coach didn't heat up due to the minimum coolant loss, but it did cost me an extra day in Creede, Colorado while I fixed it. No one in town had coolant tubing (it actually is fuel line) so I had to cut the bad part out and then splice it back together with inline connectors. Anyone with a later model coach might want to check theirs out and if it is as I described above, then you may want to check your hoses and definately put a protective pad under them. Also, I learned a lesson, and that is not to wait until you are about to leave a campground to check your engine fluids etc., check it when you arrive and that way you will have more time to correct any noticeable problems. Of course Creede is not a bad place to be stuck for an extra day, since it is beautiful here in the mountains and nice and cool.
