Smart tire Gen II & RV garage

New shoes all the way around and Generation II Smart Tire installed.
A bit of a challenge for old bones to run the cable and work under the dash but the job is done. The job took about three hours, two skinned knuckles, and several sore muscles. The new house & RV garage are coming along. RV garage specs: 20 x 50, three ceiling mounted thermostatically controlled exhaust fans with disconnects, two 4000 watt electric wall heaters with disconnects, 15 ft high ceiling, 13.5 high door, direct access to work shop, inside and outside 50 amp connects, soft water & regular water spigots, floor drain connected to septic tank, satellite TV cable drop, multi-media drop and OTA drop.
Will be sheet rocked in a week or two. Las Cruces house still on the market with little activity. A bargain waiting to happen.

Did I read correctly. You have your floor drain connected to your septic system. NOT GOOD! If you spill any petroleum products on the floor or they leak out they will go into your septic system. Or if you wash your coach the dirty and soapy water goes into your septic tank.
Not a good idea. Floor drains should only drain into "french drains" or other approved drains for surface water.
Now if you meant to say you have a covered drain which leads to septic system so that you can drain your holding tanks, that makes more sense.

Also, a fifteen foot ceiling will not allow you to get on top of the coach for any cleaning or maintenance.

Bill,

Well said by you and poorly said by me. The drain is a covered drain on the driver side of the garage and is intended to wash out the two tanks. I am not a fan of dumping a full load into a septic tank so I usually arrive home with minimal volume in either tank. The chore then is to wash out the tanks for the next trip. As for the height issue I guess I will just have to back the coach out into the sunshine for rooftop work. BTW, you didn't mention the two electric heaters which I expected comment on. They are intended to just keep the lower part of the garage above freezing when our great Las Cruces temperatures occasionally go below freezing in the winter. They are located low to the floor at the approximate location of the service bay and hydrohot on the other side. Thanks for the comments.

Hi Lyle, Sounds like you are buidling a great 'toy' store.
This may be a little late but I'll mention it anyway. Apparently there are two sure facts about concrete. It is getting more expensive every day and it will crack! Mine cracked, right down the middle of the barn. Later, when I talked to someone who seemed to know a lot more about concrete work then my original contractor he said you should only pour large concrete slabs in squares, not rectangles.
My contractor cut stress relief lines in the two wings of the barn creating squares and there is no problem, but in the center portion where the he created 16' X 12' rectangles every slab of this size cracked approximately in the middle of the sixteen foot side.
Knowing what I know today, I would have had additional stress cuts included along the length of the barn. This would still have created rectangles but 8' X 12', smaller and less vulnerable to cracking.
Of course the weight of the coach doesn't help either when there is no center stress relief.
I hope what I wrote makes sense and that you have a chance to consider where you have stress relief cuts and can avoid unecessary cracks.

Good luck,

David,

Thanks for the input. But, a dollar short and a day late. We will sheeet rock next week so the concrete has been down for a few months.
So far one hairline crack but I do expect more as time goes on.
Thanks anyway,
