new country coach owner

I just purchased a 1999 CC Allure in Southern California over Christmas. It is a 40ft single slide with the 330 hp Cummins. I left for home (Wasilla Ak) on 31 Dec and arrived back home on 5 December with no problems except a few rock chips in the windshield. Stayed in coach for entire trip and was comfortable even at -31f in Muncho lake Canada. Purchased this coach with 9,500 miles on the clock and now 13,700. I am impressed! I will be selling my 30ft Foretravel Grand Villa and not looking back although it has been a great Arctic Alaska Coach. The Country coach Dynamax chassis handles the ubiquitous frost heaves as well as any coach I have ever driven. I only wish CC had the quality of interior that Foretravel has. This said it is a real testimony to the quality of the rig to purchase a 10 year old product and drive nearly 4000 miles with no problems. I look forward to hearing from other CC owners.

We bought a new-to-us 2002 Affinity just over a month ago. Ours has tons more miles on it (85,000) but a much upgraded interior over the Allure that likely matches or exceeds Foretravel. At least the Foretravels I have been in. Seeing your first trip of so many miles I have to comment on your courage. I would have been reluctant to take ours so far without getting the bugs out of it.
I did drive ours back from where I bought it with little problem (450 miles), and we did "camp" in it all last week. But no 4,000 trip yet.

Congratulations on the purchase. We really like ours.

Great report, I lived in Alaska for close to 20 years (early 1960- fall 1978). Glad the trip went great. I once did the Alcan in January it was -55 at Tok had to leave the car running all night no plug-ins. Remember the frost heaves well.
I have a 97 Allure 40 and your right it is a great coach, mine has 92,000 and still going strong. Welcome to CC Owners.

Welcome!! We have a '99 Magna, which we love and have had no major problems with. Just wish we had opposing slides in the living area, but the quality of this coach is great!! We wintered in ours, last winter, in northern Vermont full-time, snowed from Oct. to Apr, with -20 degrees being the coldest. Coach did well, except for frost inside the cabinets. Had to leave the cabinet doors opened all winter. We decided that we needed a milder winter for the preservation of the coach, so we are in Silver City, NM (altitude 6000'). The coach is "breezing" thru this winter. The coldest here has been in the teens....above zero!

Enjoy your coach!!

The '99s were some of the best coaches CC made...
I'm sure I will be "flamed" for this statement, but if you don't believe it, watch the posts on this forum and you will see that the newer coaches are the ones having all the problems...
My coach is '99 Magna #5653, and after 90,000 trouble-free miles, everything still works except for the digital readout on the Bose sound system... (And it is an "easy" fix, just been too lazy to do it)
The roof clearcoat started peeling after 10 years, but that is the only real problem I have had... I took off the remaining clearcoat and put two coats of wax on the fiberglas gelcoat, and it looks like new...
The coach "fit and finish" is fine, and the 'ol Cat C10 and Allison HD4060 keep taking me anywhere I want to go... I set the cruise at 1300RPM (60mph) and get 8.3 mpg with a GCWR 0f 39,000+ lbs.
Have never been in really cold weather 'cause I head south when the leaves change, but the past few weeks of Florida weather (It has been below 20 degrees every nite for the past two weeks) have given me a chance to really use the Webasto furnace... and after all these years, it is doing a yeoman's job of keeping the coach and bays heated...

I congratulate you all on your choice of coaches!!!
