Old Problem recurring.

Yahoo Message Number: 4349
On my maiden voyage with my 2000 Intrigue I had the following problem which is now happening again:

When I set the cruise control it works fine for a few minutes and then suddenly it will start cutting in and out. It acts as though the switch is being turned on and off....I then turn off cruise control and drive without cruise on with no problem. Anyone else have this problem? If so, what have you been able to do to get it fixed. This has been an intermittant problem since I have owned the coach but of course whenever I take it in to a service center it works fine. I suspect that the problem might be in that mess of wires which were cramed into a huge twisted mess to the left of the driver in the compartment under the switches. I also have an intermittant PAC brake, works great for many miles then suddenly doesn't work. This has been a problem since I purchased the coach new. No service center has been able to identify a fix for the problem. If anyone can help to solve this I would be grateful for whatever clue you can offer. It would be nice if a service center could finally fix it so it works properly.

Ray,

I had an intermittant lighting problem. I opened the cover below the shifter to expose the wad of wires. I then started at the switch removing & replacing wires on the switch. I then pulled apart the red wire blocks that tie together circuits & put them back together.
During this process I made sure the circuit had power. I put it all back together & it has worked ever since. I can only figure there was a loose or dirty connection.

I don't know that this is your problem but it may be a starting point. The wire diagrams in my chassis book assisted in identifying the circuit & corresponding wire number(s).

Hope this helps

Ray, I have experienced similar problems. In my case the voltage regulator had gone bad and caused the voltage to surge to 15+ volts during operation of the coach. High voltage did cut off my engine brakes periodically. Had it replace last year and the problems are gone.

This sounds more serious than an intermittent on/off switch. If you turn the cruise control off and back on it is not in cruise until you set it again. When you tap the brakes you have to hit resume to get it back in cruise. I can't understand how it can go in and out of cruise like that unless it is something intermittent in the computer.
Maybe a hairling crack in a pc board. jerry in NM, '00 Magna.
