Help

Does anyone have the part number for a C-9 Cat 400hp air filter.

The case says Donaldson but no other info.
How ofter are members of the group changing their air filter. The filter minder has not moved since the last change two years ago.
Their seems to be a difference of opinion on the desireability of blowing out the filter versus a new one.

Thanks in advance for your help.

My .02. I'm not a fan on the filter minders. They take 20" to 25" of vacuum to trip. That is a lot. Much prefer to change the filters every couple of years of so. Even when we spend most of our time on pavement, one will be amazed at the dirt that the filter traps. I think it has a lot to do with the dust on the shoulder of the road we kick up with our air stream.

As for number, may have to pull it to find it, but here is the best price I have found for filters:

Check your price, mine was so cheap could not spend time trying to clean it.

Dan, I have a CAT C-9 in a Beaver Contessa. The air filter is a Donaldson P537448. I Can't say for sure if yours is the same. That number crosses with the following: Baldwin PA2722
Fleetguard AH8503
Nelson 87253N
WIX 46893
NAPA 6893
Fram CA 7230

Here's what I know. I had mine changed in April, about 3 years and 40,000 miles. It needed it. I had it done at Speedco with my annual oil change. They installed the Fleetguard for $94, including installation. After a lot of researching I found all the filters were within about $10-15 of each other. Speedco won as it included installation. Watched them do it and not all that difficult but why should I do the work for the same price.

Thanks for your response.

I don't really know how to tell. I was hoping that someone in the group had a C-9 in a 2006 Allure and could look at their service records to find a part #. The C-9 went from 400 hp in 2006 to 425 hp in 2207 due to emissions requirements. I don't know if that impacted the air filter.

Thanks again for your response

Hi Dan, I have a 2006 Inspire with a Cat C-9. It uses either a NAPA FIL 6556 or Baldwin RS3518 air filter.
