Another Norcold Horror Story

Yahoo Message Number: 65453
Sent to me from a Fellow RVer who owns SOB. Please read. On our way to work at Adventureland 5+ years ago, Jack and I attended a FMCA rally in Indigo.

The guys went off to do their 'guy thing'. I had to walk to the very far end of the rally fairgrounds to get to the Norcold booth. I was having a problem with the frig not staying cold enough. Trust me, it was an EXTREMELY long walk - at least 45 minutes from where we were parked. So I finally get there --- to be told that Norcold wouldn't send a rep out to our rig. Really ticked me off! I asked the rep why the ---- they had a booth and stated I was going to make a complaint against them. Reluctantly he agreed to send a rep out.
Ron and Jack were gone when the rep arrived. Fortunately for me, I had the rep's name and I documented the date and time he was with me. I SAW that SOB who should rot in ----- take the serial numbers down on my frig both inside and outside. And all that bast--- told me was to push the cold level up! I argued with him, he insisted this was normal.

3 months later while working, our frig thankfully just stopped working. Our good friends Bob and Hazel insisted on our using their frig (gave us their extra key to their 5th wheel) for things we couldn't store in the 2 portable refrigerated coolers we had borrowed from new friends. They also kept space in their freezer for us to use. And they insisted on cooking a meal for us once a week; Bob is a gourmet cook.
It took 5 weeks to have our frig fixed, when we were working 6 days a week.
The temp was up to 104 degrees. It was a MAJOR INCONVENIENCE.
Hazel just happened to have an RV magazine with an article on the 1st Norcold recall. Jack and I read it ----- and went ballastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That SOB knew about the recall, KNEW that our unit was one of the recalls, and DID NOT TELL US ABOUT IT TO GET EVEN WITH BEING FORCED TO COME OUR TO OUR RV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I estimated the loss of food to be $160 because we had many Omaha Steaks in our freezer. I wrote Norcold a letter itemizing what we lost and demanded compensation. A month later I sent a 2nd letter stating that Norcold had not responded to my letter and I was holding them personally responsible for this damage because their rep did not inform us of the recall.
The 3rd letter I sent stated that this was the last time they would be hearing from me. The next correspondence would be from my attorney and I would be suing this rep personally for attempted murder; Jack and I were lucky our frig only stopped working --- it could have caused a fire during the night which could have resulted in our deaths. This rep KNEW this --- and didn't care. I would also sue Norcold as well. AND..... I would be contacting every RV magazine and organization that I had knowledge of and informing them of this situation.
No surprise, Norcold quickly responded with a $160 and a paper stating that by cashing that check Jack and I were agreeing to dropping all suits against them.
Last year we had a recall on that recall and had it fixed for free in OR.

You can understand why I don't think highly of Norcold.

All this recall mess with all the units affected will more than likely put Norcold under anyway, Maybe some Chinese company will make an RV refer that works .
