protective nose covering

I have some tears in the 3m paint protector on the front of my 2005 country coach magna. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to patch this or if I would need to replace the whole protective coating? Any suggestion would be valued!!!

Thanks

Having dealt with 3M on this product and having replaced the original installation I can offer the following.
3M is on at least the third generation of this film. The 1st gen installed on our coach in 2004 started streaking, cracking and mold growing underneath after about 2 years. The newer product is supposed to last longer. Some on this list have reported it can be removed without damaging the paint but it is tedious and that is not how ours was done once we got 3M to agree to honor the warranty. After the installer removed the old film the entire front end had to be repainted and new film installed. They did a good to very good job.
Unfortunately the installer confirmed that the useful life of the latest film for a coach left outdoors and not stored is still 3-5 years. I am at 2 and so far it is fine.
When this film fails, I will take the weekend or whatever it takes to remove it. I anticipate that the repaint will not be as durable as the original and some damage will result. I will probably re-paint and not reinstall the film.
Others have posted some care and even rejuvenation techniques. If you search the old messages you should find more info. I don't know for sure but suspect some of the products I used to help restore the old film just made things worse. Other than simple automotive polish I am doing nothing special to this installation.
Good luck. It works for a while, looks better than the huge plexiglass system that preceeded it (as on our 2000 Intrigue) but it won't last as long as the paint and can sure look nasty when it fails. Conisdering it added ~$3k to the original cost of the coach it wasn't worth it.

We also have to remove the 3M. It failed right after the warranty ran out. We have 2 estimates to remove: $800 and $1000. Both shops said no guarantee that they won't have to repaint the front once they remove it. It is completely cracked and brown from mold. Once we remove it, we will not replace it. If you have to repaint anyhow, why have the 3M?? Once you have damage to the 3M, in my opinion, it's best to just remove it and have it replaced. As others have said, you can plan on removing and replacing every 3-4 yrs. Not sure about the new product. Too soon to tell. You do not want moisture and dirt to enter.

It took Guaranty up in Junction City about 2 hours to remove the 3-M from the slide out for the generator and they got it off clean. Was having some minor painting done from driveways scraping the airdam. Put on new and it is holding up well after three years. They say that the 3-M product has been improved but who knows.

You should take it home...To the factory! Country Coach Corporation! They have all the Intellectual property, tooling and molds and can fabricate and reproduce new, original equipment parts specifically for your coach. Their website is offering a discount on all parts right now. Check it out, or give them a call. 541-234-2167

I can't see any reason to go to the factory to have some plastic film removed. There was/is nothing special about the film, anyone with a lot of patience can remove it themselves. There is nothing to reproduce/manufacture about this stuff.
Find a local installer and let them take it off or do it as a home project.

The factory did not install the 3-M, it was contracted out, just like they didn't install the windshields. There was a pretty good cottage industry built up around providing niche services to Country Coach and Monaco.

The contractor CC used to install the 3M paint protector on our coach was absolutely no help when I tried to get warranty assistance from 3M - he ignored numerous calls including offers to call me back collect. A "warranty card" was never provided as required by 3M and lack of this document caused 2 years of delay in getting results. If this is the kind of work/referral we can expect from the "new Country Coach", no thanks.
These messages to use the new Country Coach are becoming obvious s and not advice from fellow coach owners. I would like to support anyone who can help me keep my coach on the road but these low class sales pitches turn me off. This is a disservice not just to us but also to the old time CC employees that went to work for the new company.

And I second that thank you to all of you -- as a brand new person to this motorhome "thing", I am feeling so excited just hearing about all of your travels and the good hearted nature of the folks on this list.
Thank you all so much. I am so looking forward to my new adventure after having a very tough and sad last 3 years dealing with the death of my husband of 35 years and a difficult situation with my son. Its time for me now. thanks all
