DynaBeads Wheel Balancing System

Yahoo Message Number: 73948
When discussing installing my new tires with the Michelin dealer, he discouraged the use of DynaBeads (cynically speaking, his spin balance fee is $45 per tire). He said that DynaBeads only work at or near highway speeds. Anything lower and the wheels are basically out of balance. He also says they are noisy at low speeds until there is enough centrifugal force to place them. Finally, he warned that they might damage the SmarTire sensors.

Have any of you who use them had any of these bad thing happen?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Never used them because of the very same reasons your service provider described. Also, what are your guarentees that you can always get clean dry air to service your wheels. The beads will likely create a powder at some point that will beging to cake with the moisture in the tires. Additionally, the dust/powder created can possibly block the tiny pin hole in the Smartire sensor and cause inaccurate readings.
All I can say, is no one convinced me not to do it. I made that decision on my own. Besides, how times a year are you going to balance your tires? I have had my Good Year tires for five years and hoave not needed them balanced since I installed them.
