How do you have twice as much fund with the same coach?

Enjoyed your picture of your Ovations in Metal essence color scheme. We had an issue of the colors not being co-ordinated with the interior so had CC change our paint scheme to complement the interior. Also Carol took out the fabrics with geometric or floral patterns.

I totally agree with my friend, Dallas. An unexpected aspect of this forum is that it's so much a community. Since we bought our CC last November, I have received so much help and encouragement from the owners who post in this group. I have to admit, when we first bought our Intrique I was a bit daunted by this big, rolling system of systems. It seemed complex and time-consuming to understand, operate and maintain. But thanks to all of you who share your experience and expertise, we are enjoying it all. I've learned quickly, been stymied for only a little while, and have enjoyed our coach more and relaxed more thanks to the quick and helpful answers to my problems that so many people have posted. Now, the little things that come up as a part of coach life are just opportunities to learn more about these great motor coaches.
One of the people on this group that I have really enjoyed is Dallas. He is ALWAYS doing something to his Intrigue. I recently accused him of planning an observatory and a loft bedroom addition to his coach, to which he all too quickly replied that he was only in the planning stages. Faye and I had the pleasure of visiting Dallas and Janet at their home a few weeks ago, thanks to their gracious offer of a place to park our coach while we were traveling through the area. Let's be straight, we had never met in person but this guy was readily inviting me to back my 45,000 lb. behemoth down his narrow driveway to his beautiful home. One slip of the brakes and Dallas would still be trying to extricate Tommy (our coach) from his garage.
Having read about his exploits with cutting torches, welders, wrenches and machinery I wanted to see with my own eyes some of the mods Dallas had made to his Intrigue. I mean, the pictures show that this guy has literally redesigned his coach, outfitting it with pushbutton tire chains (doesn't everyone want to drive their coach over a mountain pass in the winter?), a residential refrigerator, a macerator, a redesigned battery bay with additional house batteries, extra water tanks, different inverter, and I'm leaving out half of the stuff he's done. Frankly, I thought he was a myth, an urban legend, until he left his office in the middle of the afternoon to drive home and welcome us, help us back down his driveway (part of that was I'm sure a defensive measure), visit with us that evening and then get out the next morning with his pressure washer to wash our coach (see the following photo in the photo section):
photos/album/1303010285/pic/1189279479/view?picmode=&mode=tn&order=ordinal&start=1&count=20&dir=asc
When our Kwikee steps decided to not retract the next morning as we prepared to leave, Dallas got out his garage creeper and tool box, went under our coach, diagnosed the problem as requiring greater repair and made a quick field fix that allowed us to get on the road.
Now, you could say that Dallas is an anomaly and you'd get something of agreement from me. This is one highly intelligent guy who can spout electrical theory, wiring, principles of operation, mechanical interaction, and physical dynamics of every part of the 2004 Intrigue that we discussed, which was many. How many people do you know who say, "sure, let's move breakers so we can run a few 110VAC circuits while we're driving down the highway without using the generator?" Where I would disagree with the anomaly characterization is because of the large number of experienced, caring people that post to this owner's group to help each other out. That makes owning our Country Coach twice as much fun!

Well now, for such a sharp dude, Dallas seems to have undersized his parking shelter for the coach... :)!
Ron - You guys lucked out in being in Dallas's home, the pictures of the two coaches together were very cool.
When Dallas posts, I read, and I always both learn - and sometimes get a bit intimidated...:)! He did a great job on his added battery project. The chains were very cool, I expect to see some future posting about adding a front flame thrower to get thru the heavy stuff.

And yes, this board is one of the key benefits of owning a CC.

Best to all,
Smitty

Smitty,

I am working on the shelter problem as you have noticed and identified in the picture. The problem is that the wife will not let me build another garage on the property. I already have 5 but none of them big enough for my ego appearantly.

Next project is a single lane bowling alley in the coach.
So I had an interesting turn of events this weekend(labor day) and found myself in the Icicle River RV park in Leavenworth WA on a last minute cancellation in spot #22 which is like the best spot in the park. Hate to admit it but I was not boondocking it somewhere like a typically do. This was the first time ever being hooked into the grid and ..... No I am not getting soft.....but it was nice taking a really long shower... running the air conditioning....watching cable tv....WiFi on the Ipad...and not counting amp hours on the batteries....

I think I need a cold shower.

That's funny, Dallas. Don't know about the cold shower but a glass of good single malt scotch sounds good.

Welcome to the real world, Dallas! This is the world where the rest of us have to plug into the grid, come to grips with the basics, and live within our limitations. You, on the other hand, bring new meaning to the phrase, "if you can dream it you can build it." I'm waiting for your next post which I'm sure will be entitled, "How to add a nuclear power plant to your Country Coach." You'll probably be using cold fusion.
