Baggage Door locks (Trimark) Allure 470

Yahoo Message Number: 76166
Some of my 08 Allure Trimark baggage door locks are playing up, either not locking or on one door a half reasonable tug causes the lock to release!
Having dismantled a couple it seems that whilst out of the door they perform as expected, as soon as the latch bars and the cover are attached suddenly the problems reoccur. It seems that the latch bars create their own twisting moment and the cover when being tightened up creates another.
Has anyone else suffered with this problem and is there a specific way of reassembly to ensure correct operation, as the locks do not appear to be worn at the catch points?

Michael,

I'm having the same problem and of course it's the door lock/handle of the large storage bay..where I keep everything! Since it appeared that U took it apart, does it appear that anything can be changed/replaced or altered to make it more secure? From your point of view about the only way to see if it is worn parts or a bad design is to purchase the inter workings and see if it solves this latching/locking problem.

Dave,

Since posting the first question I have examined in more detail the connection mechanisms. There are 2 rods that perform the function of releasing the plastic latches on each side. It would appear that where you tighten up the grub screw on the bar can create a stable position for the lock to work. It would be easier to explain with the unit in front of us face to face than by keying into a thread. I have solved 2 of the failures and one left to fix. These bars can be fouled by the inner facing plate restricting the movement and so stopping the catch to free completely and let the lock plate in.
It is not too difficult to remove the whole assembly, although to be fair I have not taken the storage slide doors with their electronic lock apart!!! Let me know what's in Pandora's box!
