Another Radiator issue....

Yahoo Message Number: 76491
We left Iron Horse RV in San Antonio last week after getting some work done... an understatement.
Originally, we went in for some body work (thanks to those for the recommendation). While there, I noticed a puddle under the Hydro-hot which turned out to be a fitting that needed to be replaced. No problemo.
A few days later, while on the concrete driveway infront of the paint booth, one of the techs (Lynn), noticed a puddle under the radiator. The tech got under the coach and felt up to the top corners of the radiator and found a wet fitting around the upper hose mount. No way to access and repair without taking the radiator out. Sure wish the grill for the radiator bay had hinges or screws instead of rivets. So on to the RV lift to raise the coach up and start disconnecting things.. Big problemo.
The problem had been that when the radiator was replaced, the shop that did the rebuild soldered fittings instead of welding them. Also, they did not have sufficient bracing in place within the frame of the assembly to hold the tubes. As they expanded & contracted over time, the joints failed. A local radiator shop repaired the radiator (one Iron Horse has been using for years), welded fittings and rebraced the tubes. Fortunately, it could be repaired and not have to be replaced.
While the coach was up on the lift, I started checking out hoses, fittings, etc. and noticed what appeard to be a leaky seal on the hydraulic pump. As things so far had not been as planned, neither was this...
The hydraulic pump had a small crack in the housing which had been leaking for some time. As the pump is not really in a location where it could of been hit by something on the road, we think that it was a manufacturing defect. In any event, the pump has been replaced and as such, after all this, the bulge in my back pocket is significantly lighter.
So, on the day we were to leave, Iron Horse was having the coached washed (they have a contract service that comes in and does it for them). Finally, the coach is up to snuff, cleaned and ready to go. As I went to retract the power cord, I reached to open the door of the compartment and it fell off into my hands. Apparently, as the guys were washing the coach, they broke off the plastic hinges on the little door... This is the Friday morning before Christmas. Eric, the body guy, fashioned a temporary hing for it to make it functional to get repaired later. Daryl, the owner, said it's on their nickle and they'll get it done right. We'll head back in the Spring sometime.
Long of it is, the guys at Iron Horse were great. If you have any issues, Daryl will make sure you're happy. The facility has RV parking water/elec. and a dump station. They keep your coach plugged in while working on it if needed. I'd recommend these guys...
