Air Chuck Fitting

Happy New Year Everyone!

Went out and bought an air compressor hose and the associated hardware so that I could use it to blow out all the leaves, acorns, etc that have accumulated on my awnings.
I thought the air chuck fitting in my compartment required a 1/4" fitting but it does not; it appears to be a non-standard size air chuck.
Does anyone know what size fitting that is required for the air chuck on a 2004 Allure? Where it can be purchased (could not find one at Lowes)? Has anyone tried to change the air chuck fitting to a normal size one? etc, etc, etc.

Been there, done that. Couldn't find the right fitting anywhere, so just change to a standard air chuck on the coach.

It is the standard end used by mechanics. All those at Lowes are johnny come lately styles. You will find the correct one at parts stores and business supplying air/hydraulic hoses, fittings etc. to mechanic repair shops. Way to many different ends now. When I started there was only one. Then for some reason China started making lots of others. You can also find the correct end at Harbor Freight, but some of there do not mate correct. If you ever have to be towed the tow truck will use, or try to use the standard that is now on the coach.

I think those are a good mate and will work. Some of the brass ones they sell are a pour mate.

I agree with Larry.

BTW, if you are trying to reach high places, Harbor Freight has a blow gun with a long extension tube. I use mine to get into the engine compartment to get rid of debris and blow dry engine after cleaning.
Sometimes little animals think it is a good place to live & can make an awful mess.

Rick, after you get the right size the Air Chuck Female Coupler and Male Nipple come in different styles..."M", "H", "G" etc. The Female unit should have the Style Letter on it.

I would not change the one on your coach to a different size. That is a standard size used on vehicles. Any road service truck would be prepared to provide air to your system to provide the necessary air source for your coach. Try NAPA for the proper size fitting for the male hose end.

Rick, I just changed mine out for a standard configuration. If you go this rout be sure to bleed off all air before removal of the installed fitting.

Thanks for all the responses ... they have all been very helpful.
Since I'm a little bit "mechanically challenged", how do you bleed off all the air? Simply press an object into the air chuck until all the air is bled off?

Rick, your coach has 1/4 turn valves to release the air from the supply tanks. Each coach may be different. For the front valves check under the drivers side just behind bumper, look for (3) "yellow handle" valves to open 1/4 turn. Open Engine hatch for the rear valves, look inside to the right and down for (2) "yellow handle" valves to open 1/4.
Make sure you close all the valve firming and start engine and bring air pressure up all the way after you finish working on "air chuck".

My 2004 Allure has four air purge valves that will release all the air in the system. Two are behind the generator door on the front of the coach on the drivers side down low. The other two are behind the side panel on the drivers side of the propane bay. I have to sit on the ground to access these valves.
When all four valves are opened and drained of air, your system will be safe for removing the air line device in the bay under the driver.
