2000 CC Magna Indulgence

We recently traded in our 1999 National Sea View 31' motorhome for a 2000 Magna. We are having a couple of problems:
1) The Dometic NDR1492 refrigerator/freezer are frosting up heavily after only 2 weeks. We have done the 1$ bill test and the seals seem tight. I have also turned down the water supplying the ice maker and that is functioning correctly. Is there a defrost circuit/cycle and if so what controls it. Would it be the circuit board?
2) The coach has air HWH air leveling only. When the street side and front are low (2") it will not level. If the curb side is low it seems to work fine. I have tried manually adjusting the air with no success. Any suggestions?

I have the same coach as you and I recently felt the fins on my refrigerator iced up too quickly. After defrosting, I made sure that there were no open containers with liquids in the refrigerator. I had also been storing a Britta pitcher in the refrigerator but have since removed it. I also raised the temperature slightly. After doing these things, I seem to be running more 'normally'. At least, I don't feel that the fins are icing as quickly.
On leveling, are you dumping all the air from the bags first?. If so and the engine is not running, the small pump has difficulty making a very large correction to level the coach. On mine, it usually gives up the ghost after about 10 minutes or so and shuts down without achieving level. HWH tells me I may have a leak in the system. It seems on my coach that the front, drivers side might have a leak as that side will gradually lower and if I leave the leveling system on automatic the system will adjust the coach by dumping air from the high side/end of the coach. But eventually, the air bags on the high portion of the coach will be completely deflated and then the small pump will come on and try to raise the low side but will not be able to do so.
My usual procedure for leveling is to not dump any air from the bags and level the coach with the engine running. I then open the slide and shut the engine down. If for some reason I want to lower the coach first then I dump some air and then level the coach with the engine running so the small pump doesn't have to do anything.
Perhaps a better description of how you are attempting to level will help someone better answer your question. For example, are you dumping the air in all bags and then trying to use the small pump to raise the low side/end of the coach?
I've not seen the specifications for the HWH air leveling system but on the hydraulic jacks system I had on my 36' Winnebago the specs were +/- 1" side to side and +/- 5.4" end to end.
By the way, at an HWH seminar I attended they recommended when leveling manually to level side to side before leveling end to end.

The refrigerator and freezer, Dometic NDR1492, are both collecting a lot of frost. I read on another web site that there is a defrost cycle that is supposed to allow frost to melt and drain through the tray under the fins. If this is the case what controls this defrost cycle? Would that be the circuit board on the back of the frig?
Regarding the leveling I usually level with the bags full, do not dump, however, when I was trying to level as I mentioned in my original message dumping, raising, motor on, motor off nothing would bring the coach to level. Maybe I need to start checking for leaks.

In the refrigerator in our 2000 Alure there was a little white plastic "clip" that would slide up and down on the fin. It is located on the right side I think. Try adjusting them downward and see if that helps with the icing problem.
I know exactly what you mean by the ice forming under those fins and not allowing it to drain.

We have a 2000 Magna and experienced same frost issues. Here's how I solved not only the frost issue, but increased the cooling dramatically.
After reading about this solution on another site, I tried it. I added 2 computer 12v cooling fans (around $12 each) on a wire shelf attached to the side walls with suction cups hooks sitting on top of the coils; ran wire down to light switch power (before switch). Fans blow constantly down through the coils on the back wall. I defrost about every 3 months now (due the freezer section). Temperatures are usually just above 33 deg. at a #3 setting and 3-4 deg. in freezer. Be mindful of over packing in a way that would impede the circular air flow down the back and back up the front. I accept cold beers for any success stories :>)
If we are on a level site, while the engine is running, I dump the air, hit the level function (watch to see it level out), extend the slide, shut down the engine. If on an un level site, I try to find a corner that can dump down to the stops and then level the rest with the engine running. Once level and utilities connected, get cold beer from fridge!

I can't remember where we learned it, either in the manual or at a rally, but we always level with the engine running. And we don't dump the air bags. Later year coaches have a larger aux pump as the one in our model year is way too small for the system.

Thanks for all the help, we are still having trouble with the leveling, we used your advice and had the engine running but it still did not level. I need to call HWH and talk to them about what might be happening. The refrigerator frosting problem has been fixed by correcting the refrigerator door seal at the lower left had corner. Bringing it out and then heating both the freezer and frig seals with a heat gun to expand the seal and then letting then cool in the closed position. We also found a small cap in the bottom of the freezer that should have covered the drain hole. We replaced that and with the above everything seems to be working for now.
