Seal replacement on living room slide

Yahoo Message Number: 78773
The the seal around the living room slide needs to be replaced and one technician tells me he will need to remove the slide completely to do this. Has anyone had this done? Also I have contacted Fred Reeves of Reeves Custom Coaches near Augusta GA for another opinion and estimate, waiting to hear from him. Has anyone used his services? Thanks!

Janie, Our seal rolled over and exposed the ribbed inner clamping structure had rusted. This was at the bottom near the center "V" track. We successfully replaced it without removing the slide, but it was tedious and had to develop a tool and technique. The process of jacking up the slide as far as possible (1/4" or less), removing all the rotted lower seal and cleaning the "lip" the seal stands on took time but it was worth it. It's been almost a year and the seals working great. Hope this helps, ...Skip 2002 Intrigue 40 #11329

I have used Fred, exclusively, for the past seven years ever since he was designated as Country Coach's regional service center. During that time period, I have had three swipe seals replaced on three different slides. Each time the slide had to be removed. If fact, I'm picking up our 2006 CC Affinity on Saturday from slide repair.
Fred does impeccable work, reasonably. In my 24 years of motor homing with seven different coaches, I have found no one who takes more pride in his work. He is a very small shop, but his knowledge of Country Coach products is second to none. I can't imagine you not being happy with his work.

If it is like mine, I think you need to find another technician. The seal is replaced by carefully jacking the slide room. Let's see what others have to say.
