Tracstar 360 and DirecTV

Anyone still have the Tracstar 360 with DirecTV in their motorhome? I have one and can only receive transponders from the D8 satellite at the 101W position. I do not receive any transponders from the D9S (spot beam) satellite at the same 101W position. I have talked to both tech departments at DirecTV and Tracstar, and no one seems to have a clue why my receiver does not recognize the signals from the D9 satellite (which is where all the local programming is, and I am in the LA spot beam area). Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem or if anyone has this same system and gets both satellites OK.

Hi Craig,

We were in LA in February and have the Tracstar SV360 and Direct TV using the 101 statellite. We did not have a problem getting the network stations but we have the West and East DNS service.

When I first bought my coach and got the "bad news" from directtv that the recievers that came with the coach weren't mine and had to be replaced etc..... they put the new ones in and I had the same problem and after talking to tracstar, they sent me a part, a LNB, that I replaced on the dish and everything worked great.

We recently purchased our 99 Affinity. It still has the tracvision in motion satellite . We purchased a new receiver from direct t.v. and it was explained to us that we had to have a professional hook a laptop up to the satellite and "wake up" the dish?? I talked to McClain's r v in Dallas, and they wanted $275. just to look at it. Then wanted to sell me a new King Dome system. Anyone have much experience "waking" a dish up? Thanks Allan and Kay

I didn't have to wake mine up but I had to connect it to a box that tray star "loaned" me and then ship it back to them before they charged my credit card but that was because there used to be one regular and one had satellite and now there are many sattelies and I get them all but the hd ones.

We added a DirecTV receiver to our bedroom on our 2004 Allure. We had the work done by Dave at Sats2Go in Houston TX. He is awesome! He also attached a computer to our TracStar control box and updated the software. Now the satellite dome locks onto the satellite much faster and stays locked on better. He also said if we don't have HD we only need Sat 101.
TracStar has excellent customer service. They are located in Orlando FL and will also assist at their location. We met 2 of their reps at a rally in Brooksville FL.

Do you have the manual? If so you can follow the directions in the manual or call the 800 number in the manual and a tech should be able to help you. You will need a computer with a serial port, most new laptops do not have a serial port. If you don't have the tracvision manual then you should find it online. I replaced my tracvision last year with an HD dish.

Thanks everyone, I am having discussions with a tech rep from TracStar. So far, we have not been able to pinpoint the problem. I am going to change out the DirecTV receiver to see if that makes any difference. TracStar belives my antenna is working properly.

Well, changing the receiver did the trick. All is working fine now. I guess the receiver was not communicating with the antenna. I knew it had to be something simple. Thanks for all your comments. Now we are ready for our 3 week trip to Yellowstone. Departing on Sunday 5 August.

I also had a directv receiver fail which a Tracster tech identified The new unit fixed my problem Bob 06 intrigue. 12047
