Extended Service Plans

I'm sure this subject has been discussed before, but being a Newbie I'll ask it again. Is an extended service plan worth the money? our coach is a 2003 Allure, 370hp, 48k mi. Thanks, John 03 Allure 30951

If you value your nightly sleep more than your money, it is worth while.
If your coach falls apart and you choose a plan that actually pays for the stuff that fell apart, it is worth while.
Many providers are in the business of collecting premiums, not paying claims.
Many on this and other lists believe depositing the premiums into a savings account is a better choice.
Tried it both ways, there is no right answer. These coaches cost money to maintain.

I've had a Good Sam plan for two years now and I'm ahead of the game as of now, Just had one of the AC's go out and a slid motor, and the HWH system so I was glad I had it.

If you go for an extended warranty plan make sure you shop around even for the same plan. There are often age and mileage limitations on what can be covered so you may need to check that also. We have had our plan and after two years out of a four year plan we are almost even. The last plan I had I cancelled in the first year.

At this time, I am looking into the differences between Good Sam ESP and the plan from ACC Motorhome protection plans.
At the FMCA rally, last week, I got the quote from ACC, versus ESP which I currently have.
ACC covers more and is less in costs. Any one knows where the "catch" is ? Appreciate any input

The " catch " on all these policies is that they use every excuse in the book, so as not to pay a claim. It has been stated here many times before , about all the problems people have had with making claims and getting them rejected. Usually the main reason is "not getting prior approval". Lack of preventative maintenance is another one. There are many other tactics they use. If you realistically look at the potential payout by the companies, the price is unreasonably low, so they do whatever they can to avoid paying anything. Commissions for selling the "insurance " are 30% and more, so dealers love to push them as a profit center. You would be wiser to put all these extended warranties , in a bank account and would likely be able to self fund. There are many posts on this subject, so I would suggest you do a search , as this has been covered many times. There was a fellow , somewhere in the mid-west, recently charged with fraud, over these warranties. In his case, he almost never paid out, and was professional at it. The more expensive ones will at least pay out easily for small things , at first, and then get increasingly harder to deal with. I have only purchased one of these once, about 10 years ago, when the product was first out. I would never do it again !!

I have had both and had good service from both. I am now with AAC, much easier to deal with and much cheaper.
