Seatbelt Lockup

Our driver's seat seatbelt had been temperamental for years but it has gotten so bad lately that it can no longer be extended far enough to be snapped into the buckle. It used to be that if we would pull it out very very slowly we could eventually get it out far enough to snap into the buckle. Now we can fiddle and fiddle and let the belt go back and forth but can't get it much past the first foot of extension without it locking up. The belt is built into the seat itself.
Questions: (1) who was the manufacturer of the seats in the 2002 Intrigue? And (2) has anyone else had this problem and what have you done about it?

I had the same issue, then my wife said "Do you know how much weight you have put on? It is no wonder the seat belt does not fit".

Yes I have had the problem in our 2002 Allure. It was under warrantee at the time and the only solution was to have the seat manufacturer replace the entire seat. There was no way to remove just the seat belt mechanism. Since it was the manufacturer doing the replacement I think that if there was any other way they would have done it.
CC used several seat manufactures through the years so even if I could remember mine it may not be the same as yours. There should be some kind of identification somewhere on the seat itself.

Hi Steve, It's not uncommon for seat belts to be temperamental. The system is based upon the pendulum effect, with the locking "trip" lever dangling inside the spool assembly. It's extremely sensitive to the motion of the coach, the speed of the extending belt and the upright or reclining position of the seat back/ bottom. This is all compounded by guides inserted into the upholstery and seat cushions. You may try repositioning the seat and always putting the belt on before the coach is in motion. The manufacturer of the seats in my 2002 Allure was Home-Style Industries, Nampa, ID, 208.466.8481.
They can tell you if your seat is one of theirs and if there is a way to solve your problem.

Steve - I've had that problem with the driver's seat but it's never completely locked up. At least not yet. I think our seats are Villa International but not sure since they have absolutely no identification of any kind. Interesting? Hi Steve,

You might try an experiment. Try changing the tilt, front to back, and see if it makes a difference. If it's tilted all the way back try tilting forward a little and vis versa. I was having the same problem and this fixed it. These things can be very temperamental at times.
Also, on my seats the seat belt operator is at the very bottom/back of the seat and easy to get to. Not so easy to repair though. Look underneath the skirt at the bottom rear left on the drivers seat.

Latest update on our seatbelt lockup issue. When the driver's seat was rotated around to face into the living room, the belt would pull out nice and easy. That'll do me a lot of good when I want to drive!!! At least I know that it is not permanently locked up so I will follow the suggestions to try different tilt angles of the seat next time it locks up. Thanks for the other comments.
