HWH PS Slide Message -- Any Ideas Before Monday?

Yahoo Message Number: 83242
Hello Advisors:

I wrote this message to HWH this Saturday morning but they won't react until Monday. After searching this site I didn't find the exact discussion I was looking for so I thought i would ask the group about this issue we have on the passenger slide.

Hello HWH Service:

We have a 2006 Country Coach. For the last three stops, our passenger slide has developed a brief screeching sound upon going out at the end of extension and coming back in at beginning of extension. This sound is at the farthest end of the slide from the front of the coach.
Now, for the first time of extending the slide we have noticed a little black oil or grease left on the tile to the right of the galley sink which we have never seen before. There doesn't appear to be any oil on the pad under the slide outside or in the bay underneath the slide.
Are we in trouble? Will the slide come back in when we want to leave Las Vegas Motorcoach Resort? Is there something we should do immediately? We are here four days before going back home to Tucson.

HELP?

Any ideas or suggestions from the group?

I have this small leak too in exactly the same position but really just a drip, although I have not suffered any noise issues, so I would be very interested in responses and HWH.

When I had a question for HWH, I found them (unfortunately) to be of no help. Good luck.

Shirley,

We have one HWH slide in the bus. Bedroom P/S. At full extension (or retraction) hydraulic fluid ceases to flow which causes the pump to work against a larger static pressure. No flow at high pressure versus some flow at lower pressure would seem to influence mechanical noises. We get this sound when that occurs and have for the past five years. Me thinks this sound isn't a problem and just a normal operating noise. I'd describe it as somewhat of a soft screaming sound. As for the leaks, that's another matter and this should be looked into. I too would be interested in what HWH has to say. I've been told that keeping the button pinned for a few seconds after your slide reaches its destination is a good idea. The explanation is it helps equalize the fluid in both slave cylinders. I can't confirm any of this, however. Please do share your knowledge with us.
