Coach step frozen in open position

The exit steps on my rig are stuck open. They were acting odd by partially closing until the finally just stay out.

Thanks in advance...

I use a spray lub to keep the rails lubed. Must do this several times a year to keep the the steps functioning.

The wire bundle going thru the door jamb was the problem on my coach. Pulled the wires, about 6" and slit the outer cover to inspect the small wires. Found 4 wires that were broken from flexing in the door jam. Spliced in new wires and all was fixed.

Need more info to diagnose. There is a check out procedure in the step info.
If the step is jammed the controller will shut off immediately, controller senses motor stall current. You can usually hear the motor stall or feel it if you remove the step bottom plate. Shut the door and push on the step with your foot to break it loose.

Could be the switch, you can check with ohm meter or volt meter.
Other options are the control module or the motor, Kinda hard to explain how to check those, but the the checkout procedure in the step info goes into that.
I've replaced both the controller and a door switch on our step. It's been awhile since I ran the checkout procedure so would have to review to give you anymore info.
