Electric gage information

I would like clarification on what the voltage meter on the dash console is telling me.I only have the one gage for this purpose.
The gage will read approximate steady 12.8, 13.9 or 8 volts as I monitor the gage over a period of time. I have tried to sort this out and have come up with four possibilites.
1. The chassis battery is being charged (12.8 volts).
2. The chassis and coach batteries are being charged (13.9 volts).
3. The gage is occassionly losing its ground and going to zero (8 volts).
4. It could be a faulty meter.
5. It could be a combination of all of the above.
It would be helpful if someone would come to my aide and help me make sense of this situation. Fritz 1998 Alure 30223

We have the same problem with our '04 Allure. Volt meter is sporadic. We tried to find a replacement but per Kevin Waite, the company is now out of business. There is a company in Clearwater FL that will rebuild it but we have to find someone to take it out of the coach. Haven't done that yet. Not sure if yours is the same brand. Kevin might know.

I had this issue as well, I disconnected the gauge and reconnected everything and now all is working. I believe it was not grounding correctly. You may also want to check your ground bars, mine has two, one under the dash by the passenger seat and the other above the batteries in the outside bin. The compartment that goes to the inverter. I found a few loose grounds. Between fixing the loose grounds and disconnecting and reconnecting the gauge all seems happy.

You might check this. On my maiden voyage, I noticed that my voltmeter was reading about 2 volts lower than it should, my oil pressure was reading quite low as well.
What I found was the supply voltage to these gauges came off of the headlight switch and some engineer at CC had installed some huge diodes between the supply on the switch and the supply going to the gauges. Check to see if you have these diodes and if so jump the gauge power to some other supply voltage of at least 12 volts and see if the gauges read properly.

My voltmeter was reading low and after checking grounding to guage and alternator output confirmed the guage was bad. I was able to order a new one Datcon P/N 103129 from the factory Maxima Technologies at 717 581 1000.
