Herb I feel it is time for intervention on your part as moderator, which is no easy job.

The attached below is copied directly from the CC Owners home page "Welcome ALL Country Coach Owners. The purpose of this group is to act as a forum to exchange information covering your RV experiences, technical and social. Please think of this site as a place to pose questions regarding all aspects of RV life and living. You will probably get more answers than you think.

New For Sale/Rent listings under Groups Labs/Applications located in left column.
THIS SITE IS SET UP EXCLUSIVELY FOR PRESENT COUNTRY COACH OWNERS, AND THOSE CONSIDERING FUTURE OWNERSHIP OF A COUNTRY COACH. "

I did not insert the capitals. It seems as though certain members take exception to this Mission Statement. Nowhere , in this description do I see , Techs and Other who wish to sell their goods here. I agree with your position , that OTHERS , who do not fit the Mission Statement should be allowed to monitor this group , IF they have some sort of affiliation to the Owner/Members. This should include the CC specific Techs and CC clubs. Under this system , when running properly, the associates could email an Owner/Member, offline, yet the offenders feel they have to POST to become more visible to the rest. The Owner/Member has no obligation to respond to an offline email!!

It seems we have been getting a rash of "sales " on everything from carpet, to batteries, to "I can get you one of those ". These sort of posts do NOT fall within the Mission Statement. If not nipped in the bud, this will only get worse as others become more brazen with their "sales " posts. The Owner/Membership come to the forum looking for advice from another owner. If a Tech offers a solution, other than "come to me and I will sell you that ", I see no problem with that. An Owner/Member can recommend a place to buy that, from a company or person, he has had a good price, or helpful suggestion, HOWEVER, that should come from a Member/Owner, not from a business associate. It seems to be that some feel we would lose the techs, but I am not suggesting a BAN, rather asking these folks to honor the Mission Statement. I know that many who monitor the site never post, but there will always be a few pushing the envelope. If the techs and sales associates are to be afforded full "Membership ", we could easily double or triple the monthly postings.

Having said all that, where do you draw the line as to which of these commercial places can post? Do we let OMC post , but not Massey Diesel( In Phoenix ) ?It is therefore , quite simple that ALL commercial posts , NOT be allowed. Any vendor worth his salt can get a reference from an Owner/Member. As well, the Mission Statement should be changed and this site will get inundated. We run about 600 posts per month. that could easily be 2000 if we open it up. As a last point, there are folks here , who when they disagree with a poster, feel like they have to attack them. The Cancer Comment is about as low as you can go

I don't mean to make anyone feel bad, but I like our site just as it is. Ron, you certainly have given this a lot of thought, but as others have said, it's not out of control at all, or that's how it seems to me, and these folks who are CC technicians and so helpful to us are doing their entries very seldom and almost always, it seems to me again, offering us terrific help since we do not have our old CC business to call.

Thank you.

REALLY....... I am sorry but I can't believe we are still on this subject. Personally, I don't see excessive advertising happening. Kevin Waite and others simply offer their services when they see someone has posted something they can help with. I think it is valuable input. I have not seen them posting blatant advertising without someone asking for help.

Just my thought....

OK, it's easy to see both points of view, but I would ask all those who buy specialist magazines in hobby areas, do you ignore all the ad pages or do you read them??
If it is a subject you are enthusiastic about you read every ad! You then make your choice.
If this board was filled with some of the dribble I witness from uninformed morons, that I see on other sites and boards, I think you would have a bigger target to complain about!!

Maybe it is time to change the mission statement to allow our valuable techs to be included, I vote for allowing all those techs to continue providing us with their expertise. Not sure why you seen this as a problem, Ron.

I vote yes. These techs are valuable to us, and they are more than willing to help us through anything with just a phone call.

I would vote yes! I've contacted 4 of this techs in the past via questions on this CC site and got details via direct emails and phone calls. Couldn't have done what needed to be done without them. I just hope I out live them!

If it hadn't been for Chris Snyder first and foremost, Bob Snooks , Bob Vinson, Larry Sherwood and Doug Rutherford, secondly, Shaun Davis, Ron and Paul at Les Schwab, Dave Remington, Ed Reed, and Pat Mason/Bob Lee at OMC, we would no longer have our CC. We would probably not have purchased the second one. So I must say We vote Yes!!! TOM/CAROL 2004 Intrigue 11731 Ps, I for got Gary at Allison, and all the great guys at Cummins in Coburg!

I vote YES and I'll second that list of valuable people and add Kevin Waite and John Davis to the list and likely many more who've been omitted. These techs comments and knowledge has helped greatly and provide us with a source for honest, knowledgeable repair work and parts!! Invaluable since the manufacturer is out of business!

Ditto! I vote "yes" also. Kevin Waite has been very helpful and always willing to assist no matter what time of day or night. I appreciate all the valuable insight the experienced techs are willing to share with those of us (me) who are not so skilled or knowledgeable at diagnosing problems as they occur. Thank you!

So don't screw up a good thing. Also if you stop the Guys That Know the answers your going to get all us Dummies that think we know everything misleading everybody
