Mexico Caravan Travel

Yahoo Message Number: 65
Sue and I just go back from a two-week trip to Mexico's Copper Canyon with a caravan. That is a no brainier way to travel. We were taken care of in every way all the way down and back. If you have ever thought of going to Mexico and did not feel comfortable going alone a caravan is a good way to travel. We stopped along the way for a few days along the Sea of Cortez and a few days at Alamos and then on to Los Mochis. We did not take the RV's on the train but left them in a secure park in Los Mochis and spent 3 days traveling to Creel and back by train. Train accommodations were above average. The train goes through the Copper Canyon starting at sea level and ends up at 7500 feet.

When driving the roads are a little narrow but workable. We traveled at 50-55 miles/hr, some times slower staying in radio contact with the leader and the tail-gunner. RV preformed at 10 mi/gal instead of the normal 8.5 we get in the states at higher speeds. Other than the canyon the most interesting place was Alamos an older city with all of the historic things we liked to see. The only trouble we had is one of the RVs had a tire wall punctured on a curb exiting a RV park. Twelve RVs travel on the caravan. We travel with Adventure Caravans.

Traveling this way was a good learning situation for future trips to Mexico on our own or with other caravans.
