Generator belts Onan 10KW

Changed oil and filter on genset and was rereading the manual regarding service when I noticed belts to be changed at 1000 hours. Figured I had some time yet as we only have about 400 hours on the genset. Since we like to drive with the coach roof air running on the 100+ days, started the coach and generator, to have the gen quit; code said too hot; multiple checks, but no luck. Decided to "check" the belts. Not an easy job, just to check. Dismantle the top, right rear and back, just to find belts, which were broken(1) and cracked (1). Two belts and about 2 days of work and back up, and running. Decided to post in case someone decides to take it on and I will provide full report. Otherwise to say, unless you intend on crawling under the coach a minimum of a dozen times and can work half-squatted under there,

Thank you for this note. We were trying to decide whether to change our generator belts or not. Would you please post your coach year and model for a comparison to ours?

Thanks,
Marta

Sorry, the last part of the post was deleted by mistake.

You might not consider trying this one. I read on other forums, belts cost $300+ and labor on top of that. Mine were $14.95 at NAPA.

Onan has an up grade for the 10kw gen which changes the cooling to a One belt system from the problem

Prone two belt system Bob. 06 intrigue 12047

True, makes the water pump direst drive and eliminates the second belt. I believe the kit is about $330.00, and installation the same as replacing the belts. I elected to just go with the double belts at this time.
