trip from Santa Fe to Steamboat via Buena Vista

We have lived in Steamboat for 35 years and have traveled the route through Leadville and over Hoosier Pass, via 9 out of Fairplay, numerous times. They are both winding roads but fine!! We have also dry camped

in Buena Vista in a closed grocery store parking lot, with no problems. I do not know what your plans are in Steamboat but you have two options. The one closer in (Steamboat Campground) is cramped, usually packed, and we are not too proud of it. The other option is further west on 40 about 6 miles and advertised in Big Rigs as a no frills park. It is called Eagle Soaring and we would stay there even though there are no laundry facilities.
