Does anyone know a good paint shop on the Eugene area? Artistry in motion did the original job but they are no longer in business.

Call Chris Snyder at CC and tell him I told you to call. Remember Chris is honest to a fault. TOM Insall /CAROL 2004 intrigue 11731

Update!

Got estimates from CC and Straightline and Straightline quoted half the price of CC. Plus Straightline said the fenders just needed to be buffed rather than repainting. By the way, I had forgotten that we had Straightline polish our stainless 3 years ago and they only charged $150. Great job too!

By the way CC lowered their shop rate from $120 last week to $105 today.

Jim - Straightline remembered you.

Thanks again!

Some said Eric was charging $119.00 an hour in Tucson at Premier Coach Service center. His normal rate is $110.00. If your a CCI member or a Country Coach Fiends member he discounts his labor and parts 10%. Eric is really sharp with electronic and electrical circuits. I believe Country Coach only discounts parts as does OMC, but I know Jim Cooley and Pat Mason will bend over backwards to make things right at OMC. Chris Snyder is now at CC and I know you'll get a fare shake with him there. TWI 2004 Intrigue 111731

Recommendations for MotoSat Installer

All,

Looking for recommendations for someone who can replace my current MotoSat satellite entertainment system with a new MotoSat system. My current system is 10 years old now and I ready to upgrade it. My current system was installed by the guy that did them for CC back in 2003 at Junction City, OR. Don't know if he is still in business; and if he is, would anyone still recommend him. I'm looking to replace the satellite dish, MotoSat receiver, and Direct TV receivers (and infrared remote).
I currently live in Las Vegas at the LVMC Resort and I'm willing to travel anyway in the west to have the system replaced.
Does anyone know if MotoSat in Salt Lake City, UT perform upgrades? Has anyone had this done recently; and if so, what was the approx. cost?

Thanks in advance for the recommendations,

Rick,

Rick, the company you are referring to is Advanced Satellite in Eugene, OR. Owners name is Cal Thorne, phone is 541-607-8968.
The Motosat is a thing of the past. Cal is now selling and installing the RF Mogul which was designed by the former owners of Motosat. It is a much better unit and is up to date technoogy wise.

The last time I heard Guaranty's top painter moved to straightline and he had a very good reputation.

All,

Thanks for all the responses. After further research, I have decided to go with the Wineguard Automatic Satellite (Locating) System for Direct TV. The cost is $1899 plus approx $400 for installation and another $100 for the Direct TV receiver.
Anyone have any feedback on this system? Anything I should be concerned with?

All,

I'm considering using RV Doctors to install my satellite system and repair my damaged 22' Carefree Apex awning (all 3 arms broke in a storm when I could not retract the awing - always something).
Has anyone used these folks before and have any positive or negative reviews in their experience with them?

I ditched the MotoSat and went with the Winegard Trav'ler 1000 and Dish Solo Vip211k satellite receiver from Camping World then had Kustom Coach Works in Junction City do the install added the receiver to my home bill for $7 a month, works great.

You might look into going with RF Mogul instead. Cost is about the same and it's made in the US instead of China. When I did my research I found that there is a big difference in repair costs after the warranty. And, the Wineguard weighs a lot more. After 6 months with the RF Mogul I'm very pleased. It's fast at finding the sat signals and pulls signals through the trees much better than my old Motosat.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the recommendation on RF Mongul. I did look into it and their system only cost a $100 more. The one thing I liked about the Wineguard, is that you never had to worry about firmware or software updates like you had to do with the Motosat system which was very annoying because you had to have a tech perform these updates because you needed the Motosat module (thinks Motosat USB) to perform the firmware and software updates. That was the deciding factor for me because I had to pay about $100 each time to have the tech do these updates (I only had to do this about 3-4 times in the 10 years I have had the Motosat system). In this day and age you should be able to download these updates from the Mfg website. I have not checked with RF Mogul if that is in fact the case where you can download from their website.

If you are referring to the Winegard Trav'ler for Direct TV, it is a great dish. Always finds the bird/s.
First mod to our Allure when we got it in April was to get rid of the Trac Vision dome and replace with the Trav'ler.

OMC contracted with Cal to install our RF Mogul system in JC last fall and over tightened two fittings to the point that they failed and I had to have it repaired in Indio less than 30 days later. The RF Mogul is made by the same group that started Motosat and it has worked well to date. It cost about $2500 installed and uses the new SWM technology.

I don't know if this is still the case but when I looked into Weingard I was told that I would have to send it to an authorized service dealer to have it repaired.

I had my very old KVH replaces about two weeks ago with the new Winegard Slimline travler for Directv. About $2,500 installed.
Love it. Where my old KVH could at times take up to 45 minutes to find the sats the now one does in in about five minutes. I did have to buy a new Slimline portable dish for outside when camped in treed areas because the old portable 18" dish was not compatible with the new receiver.
