Front Roof air

Just to review, my front air will not work (does nothing) even though circuit breakers are fine, rear works. I took the controller off the wall and cleaned the cable contacts and reinstalled, no help (did not get up on roof, DW won't let me do that any more). So I suspect a bad controller, even though it seems to display correctly and works on the rear. In any event, the rear was getting weak and needs to be replaced, and the last shop I had look at it told me the new units need a new controller anyway. So I am just going to take it to the ship and let them deal with it.

Try cleaning the phone-type cable connection accessed through the removable filter panel from inside the coach.

Tried that, no joy. The problem is either the roof air itself or the controller, I can't figure out how to isolate it to one or the other.

Let us know what turns up after your visit to the shop.
On my coach, when the front AC did not work, we discovered the front controller board failed. The way we determined this was to remove the rear controller board, adjust the dip switch, put it in the front AC and presto the front worked. Much easer said than done, but that was the gist of the process.

This morning I turned on my rear AC to the heat pump setting and I got nothing just like you. No reaction to any setting. Front AC is working fine. This rear AC unit is about 6 years old. I burnished the telephone connections at the AC and the controller. I checked for 120 V power. 120 V OK to the J-Box. I had no problem until I read and responded to yours....Sounds like Voodoo.

Daron & Al, I had similar problems suggest you read my message #90048 concerning Bad Ballasts in the Ceiling Fluorescent lights (when on) and how they affect the Comfort Control Unit communications to the A/C's. Based on you coaches ages, it's a possibility.

On ours, we had to reset the thermostat. Do you have the 5 button Comfort Control Duotherm? We also found that the fan mode had to be the same on both front and rear AC's. High, low or auto.

Thanks for your comments. I have an old 4 button Duo-Therm Comfort Control. How did you reset the thermostat on your control? I tried setting both front and rear on the same fan setting. Still no-go.

Meanwhile, I had a short conversation Kevin Waite. He said to check the capacitor. Mine is a dual start/run capacitor in one canister. I removed the wires from the terminals and tested the capacitor. Got some erratic readings that ended at Zero.
This may be the problem but, I am still not sure.

If I can find a local parts supplier near Newport, OR, I will remove the capacitor and replace it..... Or I will wait until I get to Junction City and let Kevin Waite and Bob Vinson solve this issue.

I am puzzled. I went to 29045. Read the message. Then, went to lists to find "Dometic troubleshooting guide.html" PDF posted by Earl Denston.
Result: "HTTP/1.1 Unavailable."
What am I doing wrong?

Found this old post to reset 4 button thermostat:

For 4 button reset:

Turn the ON/OFF switch to ON. The display light with data should come on. If the light and data are not there, see Section B2 Cable Assembly.

Depress mode to activate display light.
Depress the bottom two buttons (up & down) together.
While still holding the two buttons add the third from the bottom (mode) , hold all three for a few seconds.
Release the third (mode) button.

Release the bottom two (up & down) together.
Depress the mode button. The display light should be off. If not, repeat steps 2 through 6.
The control should return to the default setting of 68oF for heating mode and 72oF for cooling mode.
