Amana (among others) Residential Refrigerators

We are sitting at Fountain RV in Lakeland, FL getting some repairs done.
A 2003 Allure came in because their refrigerator had failed and smoked up the inside of their coach. Could have been much worse. Their dog woke them up in the middle of the night. Anyway it seems there was a recall on these refrigerators manufactured between 2001 and 2004. A compressor relay may fail. I googled Amana refrigerator recalls and found the information as to what models and serial numbers were affected. Ours is a Amana and wasn't affected because we have a 2006 Intrigue and apparently the refrigerator was manufactured after 2004. This is just a "heads up" for anyone who might be affected. It seems that problems didn't start appearing until 2009 and then many people weren't notified probably because of coaches changing hands or CC going out of business, etc.

It was an Affinity instead of an Allure.

On that same 'fridge fire' theme.........we're staying in DC for 2 weeks, taking a tour of the Park Service barricades that are closing the scenic turnouts and the Memorials (which are now wired together to keep those resourceful, cagey old WWII vets from circumventing the punishment and going to prison for trespass) as ordered by President 'Stompy Feet' in collaboration with 'Dirty' Harry Reid.

We're are Cherry Hill Park in College Park, Md and witnessed another Norcold go up in smoke 2 nights ago. It was in a 05 Monaco 'Cayman'. No one that I talked to that had gathered to help/watch was aware that there was an ongoing problem with the Norcolds.
