Awning (Insurance question)

Yahoo Message Number: 95548
Please excuse me for pirating this thread and trying to start a new one. I'm using a new Mac (very different mail program that I'm used to) and can't seem to get a message with a new thread to go out...it goes somewhere, but not to the list!
I'm shopping for insurance and wondered about others' experience. My first quote from Progressive was $3,100! Have another quote from Nationwide's affiliate for $1,300, but wondered about alternatives. I have 300/500 with 1K deductibles on comp and collision.
Thanks for any thoughts and again, sorry to intrude on someone else's thread! (my awing is OK ;))

RE: awning (insurance question)

we have National Interstate Insurance. They specialize in full timers insurance and also insure our toad. They include Coach Net roadside assistance in their premiums. We have been very pleased with their service (both National Interstate and Coach Net). Not sure how the rates will compare as so many factors affect rates. Worth a quote though. We were previously insured with Progressive which was an excellent company to deal with but after I had a small at-fault mishap in my car my coach insurance premium went up about 75% at renewal time. I decided to shop around and fouond Ron Jarvie, an RV insurance specialist who got me excellent coverage with Nationwide for a lot less... here is Ron's contact info: Ronald L. Jarvie

We also switched from Progressive to National Interstate through Ron at Overland Ins. We have not had any claims but they were very helpful in the transition period while we owned two coaches last year.

Get a quote from everyone you can think of that is licensed in your state, here is a big deal, make sure and compare coverage side be side there can be big differences in coverage.
We have Progressive and have for 7 years now since the coach was new and they cover the motorcycles too.
One nice thing that we found is when I totaled my motorcycle last summer they did a great job on taking care of the bike, totaled and the payout was very fair. There was no increase in my premium this year for the motorhome and when I did the quote check this year some beat what I was paying but insuring it for regular "book" value in case of loss. The policy I had at the time with Progressive still covered it for original purchase price, for renewal we lowered the fixed value to current high book and their price beat everyone else's, for us at this time.
Insurance pricing has so many variables, some you can effect and some you can't.

Thanks for the many responses to my insurance question. There seems o be a significant difference in who charges what for similar and sometimes not so similar coverage. I will start the process of comparison and will let the group know what I end up with. I appreciate the suggestions.
