LP Gas detector

While still at the campground our detector for LP gas started beeping every 15 seconds. We removed the 2 screws that hold it to the bottom of the cabinet. No sign of a backup battery and the in line fuse tested ok. I currently have the fuse out and that shut it up. It is original from my 2001 Allure. Any ideas?

LP detectors and CO detectors have a useful life of the sensor. It is around seven years for the LP, and I believe close to the same for Carbon Monoxide. Oops, Just checked a First Alert in my home -- it says replace every five years.

There are lots of expired LP & CO detectors in RV's!!!! Time to think about replacing them if you have not.

p.s., You got 13 years out of it until it decided to tell you that it doesn't work. Wonder how long its safety was degraded (unable to detect LP at the prescribed level).

Herb, thank you for sending this out! Of course I immediately asked Mike when ours had been replaced since we have an 06 Inspire. Three years ago for the LP, and he's not sure where the CO is. Does anyone have a quick answer? Thank you!

The thermostat is just a few inches away from the detector and now the display is very light and the AC doesn't work. I'm on 50 amp and had no problems until this afternoon when the detector started to beep.

Thermostat is usually powered by 12 volts and so is detector. Do all your lights work? What do show for charge on the batteries?

It appears my problem is my inverter. The coach is new to me 2 months ago. I have found out that my house batteries are going dead (brand new). They lasted thru 5 days of camping with 50 amp connected. When I left the coach running for 15 minutes, everything charged up and all was well. No beeps and the AC/air worked fine. At 3 am this morning beeps started again and 12v was dead again. Does that mean the entire inverter needs to be replaced or does it have a separate charger that is no longer working?

John,

Check your 120 VAC breaker probably labeled "Charger".
