Norcold RV frig

Yahoo Message Number: 97946
I am experiencing problems with my frig. The freezer started thawing out a couple of days ago. I checked all the fault codes and nothing odd is showing up. In June I replaced 2 elements and a blown fuze. I tried running it on electric and gas and everything appears the same. I shut it off for a couple of hours yesterday, turned it back on and the back wall of the freezer became cold to the touch. I took everything out and left it on overnite and the fin temp in the frig is 49 degrees this morning. I have the temp on 9 (the coldest setting). I have a 14 year old Country Coach so the frig. is getting up there.

I phoned Pleasureland and spoke to service. He indicated he thinks my condensor is going bad. I am leaving next Saturday for Florida and am not sure what to do? A new RV frig is around 4,000, getting a new condensor seems to be about half that. I could consider a residential frig but will have to change some cabinetry and will be a big job to switch it out.
Any suggestions?? I would like to be SURE that is the problem and it isn't something else? There is a web site for Norcold troubleshooting that appears to be $40 which may be worth it?
Any suggestions??

Diane,

I feel your pain... We went with the Samsung residential. We love it. Many posts on this board both pro & con.
Switch out should only take a few days by a competent shop that has done these.
My opinion is if your gonna keep this coach for awhile, do the residential upgrade.
If not, maybe then repair the Norcold.

Looking for help please. I've emptied both tanks and cleaned out the black tank with spraying. Now as we try to flush the toilet, the round cover that opens up to allow the toilet to empty, the water doesn't go down. The tank gauge says it's empty, and I know it's empty. Sealand toilet by Dometic. Hoping somebody has some knowledge about this. The office of the rv park is a long way away.

Thank you.

we had to replace our Dometic refrigerator after 6 years. I would go with the residential fridge. I wish we had. My brother-in-law installed a new residential fridge in his older Foretravel and they love it.

Hi all,

I'm answering our own email below. We got to thinking that we had company for cocktails and dinner last night who are non-RVers, and three grandkids here before that, ages 5-9, and maybe all of the problem was a plugged up deal. Mike bought a snake at Ace, read about the toilet and how it works, watched a video about the toilet, turned off the water, used the snake, and all is well! Whew!!! Hope this helps somebody who was as in the dark about the situation as we were for a while.

Mary, whatever was blocking the pipe from the toilet to the tank is now a possible blockage at the black tank drain valve. Just a thought.

Excellent thought, Jay. I just hollered, "OH no!"? Mike said he ran a lot of water with the drain clean out connection on the black tank. He had that water running before he cleared the plug out of are between toilet and tank. So let's hope it's ok. Thank you for thinking of it and taking the time to write. Mary 51784 Inspire

try a plunger or a stick to open the pipe. Sounds like it is stopped up if the slide opens.
