Just Purchased a 2008 Affinity

Yahoo Message Number: 99069
I just purchased a 2008 Affinity, my first CC. I'm about to pick it up next week. Also, contemplating whether to purchase a 3 or 4 year Extended Service. Would appreciate any feedback especially re, ES.
Thanks,

FWIW

Take cost of warranty  in a bank account each year you own the Affinity. I"ll bet you will have money left over when you sell it.

IMHO....An extended warranty is one of the requirements of owning Class A Diesel Pushers. Mine is with EXTRARIDE and has proven to be one of the best things my almost worthless dealer did for me. Just make sure you don't overpay. Mine cost $3,850 for a 5 year $500 deductible plan. I've already gotten my money back in 2.5 years. Just know you own a house on wheels. Things get old, wear our, break, fail on a regular basis. But the best thing is peace of mind especially if you are unlucky enough to have chassis or engine problems.

Then you are the exception to the rule, sir.

There has been more press on the exceptions to extended warranties then I can count. Unfortunate  owners buy these and probably never read what is not covered.  Another thing to consider is the owner skill level.  Your comment about requirement to own a diesel pusher seems to be a stretch.  And here is the example. Covered items drop off as the mileage climbs. Isn't 50K about the end for gaskets.? I'am not trying to start WW111 over this but everyone has to have a comfort level in operation of a RV. Components in the build of your RV are covered by the manufacture so why spend additional dollars.

Of course I am the exception to the rule. We're that not the case, no company would sell extended warranties for what mine cost me. Some folks like to gamble without insurance of any kind. Most folks, however, pay their monthly premiums understanding the $$ may be gone forever but enjoying the overall protection insurance affords. Good Luck with your personal choice. I refuse to ridicule you for taking the road you choose!😎

My current warranty (Easy Care) will expire in August.  I purchased it when I bought the coach almost four years ago.  I have barely used it, and a couple of the items I wanted to use it for were not covered, i.e. they would not cover the coset to remove the refrigerator from it's cabinet by a third party when I had ice maker problems...duh, the damn thing had to be removed by somebody!  I had to practically go to court to get radiator repairs on my previous Inspire with another company (U.S. Warranty) and they never would cover the PTO and the CAC breakage (said they were 'items not listed and thus, not covered".
I am probably going to go naked from here on out and, as some say, bank the premium money each year.  The best coverage I can find going forward is about $8K (from the great people at Wholesale Warranties) for four years (for an exclusionary policy which, as opposed the the US Warranty coverage, covers everything EXCEPT what is listed).  I realize that I am taking a chance, particularly if I have chassis or running gear problems, but the coach has been very well maintained both before and after I bought it, so it seems a risk worth taking.  And, I believe in preventive maintenance.
My only advice to someone who is contemplating extended coverage is to be sure to read and understand exactly what is covered/not covered and what the procedure is for making a claim.  I believe, having had a number of policies over the years, that the company's first line of defense is always to try to find a way to deny the claim...usually by the prior authorization clause.

Just my opinion, of course!
