Storage bay struts - 2000 Intrigue

Yahoo Message Number: 100944
I apologize in advance since I am sure that has been discussed but I could not find a way to search for this information.

We need to replace the storage bay struts in our 2000 Intrigue, they have the number 4530 on them but I can't seem to see any cross reference to that number.

I got the lengths I need but what is the lift pressure supposed to be? I have heard 120 pounds but wanted to make sure. I only have one strut per bay door if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

I have replaced the gas springs on our 2000 Magna and have used the  original SPD springs (www.spdhardware.com) and alternately Guden  (www.guden.com). You will need to know the  specs in order to match your existing. A typical part # on our original bay door  springs would like GSNI-2300 (+ the psi force, i.e. 90 lbs).

Good luck.

Length and weight are all you need to know.  Most of the time the weight is stenciled on the strut.  I'd say if you only have one strut per bay door that you would need at least 120# struts.  My 2004 Intrigue has/had two 60# struts on each.  As the originals fail, I replace them with 80# struts.

I just ordered some thru Amazon. For the large bay doors my coach has 120# and the smaller doors use 90#. I ordered " JR Products GSNI-2300-120 Gas Spring" and they were $14.19 plus tax. These are SPD springs and they are easy to install.

Thanks,

Gene

My 2004  42' ovation Intrigue came with one strut per  bay door.  This set up with 100 lb struts will guarantee the door to delaminate.  So I had CC add a second strut to each large bay door and the strut ratings are now 45 Lbs each.  Only the bay door under the driver  and the rear compartment that contains the fuel filters and power switch still  have a single 60 lb  strut.  TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

I wanted to thank everyone for all the suggestions and comments on replacement storage bay struts.

I did find some at RVupgrades.com they are JR Products GSNI-2300-120 Gas Spring the price seemed pretty good and they shipped really fast. I got them installed today and they really make quite a difference!

Thanks
