Tail light Wiring on Jeep Wrangle Unlimited.

Yahoo Message Number: 107723
Ready to wire the tail lights on Wrangler "toad". Want to use separate bulbs. Looks like there is enough room in the tail light assembly The assemble is sectioned off "back up light" and tail lights. Coming in from the side looks the best, hole won't weaken the existing light holder. Also looks like it will clear the existing bulb. Need to order the kit so don't have the "pop in bulb socket" to measure. Anyone done this?

Would appreciate a call, want to do this tomorrow or the next day. 214-763-2119

PS installed the Blue Ox Base Plate, No Problema! Much easier than the Envoy.

If your jeep is a TJ (97-06) then what I always do is drill the hole in the metal divider plate and put the tow bulb there pointing down into the lower section.

If it's a JK (07-current) in the blue ox install manual it shows where to install the bulb. http://blueox.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BX1126-3.pdf

The bulb & socket kit can be purchased from/thru either blue ox or roadmaster as a kit. I buy the bulbs in bulk from NAPA or other auto part house's. It's just an old style 3-wire socket that takes a 1157 bulb. Then 4 wire trailer wiring & plug for the front of the tow. (we use a 6 round, fits the baseplate bracket the best on current plates and gives enough for charge lead & brake signal for ones with brakes)

I have an unused Blue Ox universal kit that has components & wires & sockets etc. for both the separate bulb or diode setup, I'll sell for cheap. You don't say where you are located (I'm betting not in MN where I am) but if you're interested I could send it to you as soon as tomorrow.

Thanks for responding but came up with another solution. When I "hooked up" the electrical in our Envoy in 2006 I ended up with 2 sets of sockets and bulbs. They shorted me a part and when I called them they sent another complete kit. Just remembered that and actually found the extra sockets and bulbs! Want to use round cable and fish it through the chassis. So all I need is about $15 to $20 worth of parts.

We are full time presently in Tucson Arizona. Leave sometime in September heading for Texas. Bought the Wrangler in Phoenix, having some issues getting the right paper work to get it registered in Texas. I could write a story on this transaction. Good financial but dealer was/is a tyical "car dealer" maybe kinda on the not so good side.

I did this on my 2007 FJ Cruiser. Worked fine. Got the parts from http://e-trailer.com. No problem with the install, its pretty simple. Use a hole saw with your drill and go slow and you shouldn't have any problem.
