I called CC and they said turning thermostat to the right or clockwise would make it the hottest in the bay- Mine works fine-

Hi, Stan

Do you have any idea how much heat is being output by that bay radiator? Have you ever monitored the temp relative to the outside temp while driving?

Stan,

That sounds more like it. The CC phone tech (Tony) was no help, he did not have a clue as to how cold it should get down there. I will have it looked at during the March rally.

Hi all,

I have a small issue with my thermostat on my 04 Allure. After I flip on the switch to turn on my thermostat, I am unable to get zone 1 to "furnace" instead it says "mode off". Zone 1 is working in all the other modes(heat pump, cool, ect). I have tried the procedure to reset the thermostat to original settings, which it did successfully, but still have the "mode off" where it should say "furnace" in zone 1.
Zone 2 works fine. Any suggestions? Anyone else had a similar problem?

No, but I wonder if there is a "dip" switch somewhere on the furnace to tell the system that there are 2 zones. I noticed some dip switches on my ACs that need to be set right to let the thermostat know there are 2 zones for ACs. Just a thought.

Anyone have any idea where the access to the furnace is so I can check out the dip switches? I have been looking, no luck so far.

Thanks.

Sorry,

Forgot to mention that I have the Hydro Hot, not the std furnace.
Looking for the dip switches, already checked the Hydro Hot electronics board, no luck.

If you'll check previous posts, someone had the same situation and it turned out they needed to reset the logic on the thermostat, but for the life of me I can't remember the procedure.

The part of the thermostat that controls zone 3 seems to be malfunctioning. Whether controlling gas (HydoHot), heat pump or air conditioner, it short cycles and causes each to start and run for as little as several seconds up to two minutes and then stop. After about fifteen seconds, it will restart the function. Any ideas?

I discovered the same problem before I left Lazy Days where I bought my 06' Allure (40' with two a/c's). The problem with the front(Zone 1) is that they put the sensor on the audio components cabinet. We called CC and they told us how to reroute the sensor to the front A/C intake. It still short cycles. The back A/C sensor is mounted on the frame of the rear closet and it cycles normally. All in all, it is my belief it was a design problem but there is no way to correct it now. Since the duct is common to all A/C's, I turn the front real low at night which also cools the B/R without the noise and run the back wide open when we are watching TV at night with a higher setting on the front. thomasreames '06 Allure 40' #31409

I need to give more details concerning this thermostat problem.

1. The thermostat for this zone has worked perfectly for well over one year.

2. When operating on the gas position (HydroHot), approximately 70% of the time it works fine.
The remainder of the time, it short cycles the system as it runs the two Zone 3 heat exchangers for about 3 seconds on, one minute off, then 3 seconds on again, etc.. This cycle continues until I turn off the system at the thermostat. These three second runs are not enough to produce any heat.

3. When cooling with Zone 3, the system is stopped and started so rapidly it also has no chance to produce any cold air.

4. At times when the above is happening, the temperature reading at
the thermostat jumps up and down ten to fifteen degrees rapidly.

Any ideas??

Bob,

It sounds like a bad thermostat or maybe on an outside chance a loose wire....

I am wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or can offer any advice. I have a 2005 Magna. When I try to set either zone 2 or 3 to "furnace", it has disappeared! The thermostat will show me cool, fan and heat pump but the "Furnace" selection has completely disappeared from the list. It is still there for zone 1 and works fine. The coach is plugged in and of course I have the hydro hot running. I am thinking that it may be a fuse but have no idea. The Hydro hot panel out side shows all is well. Help?!Thank you Scott 2005 Magna

Hi Scott,

Yep. Had the same problem. Found the problem in the front electrical bay. There is a aluminum box with no ID information on it. It contains the wiring for the controls system. Full of diodes and relays. Try to tighten all the screws for the diode leads. I had one just a bit loose, I could see copper colored spots where it was arching. That fixed the problem. Ours would come and go, sometimes it would work other times behave as you describe. Another work around is to look in the manuel and find the two separate relays for Zone 1 & 2 and jumper them together to be controlled by zone 1. Of course, it could be other things, there is a fuse on each control board in the roof A/C units. Worth checking. If you still have the 4 button thermostat system, could be a thermostat problem. Checking the screws and fuse is very cheap compared to updating the thermostat and control boards in both A/C units. I have done the update on two separate coaches and feel the update to the five button is worth the expense when the 4 button unit goes. There is also a combination of buttons to push and hold to reset the thermostat. Look in your manuel and that is worth a try as well.

Leonard, I looked in the bay and there is tons of stuff. I do not see an aluminum box at all. I will have to get up on the roof and check the a/c . Thanks for the information, hopefully I can get it resolved.

Hi Scott,

If you have a Duo Therm comfort control thermostat, hold the top and bottom buttons in at the same time and turn it off and then back on while holding the buttons. Release the two buttons and "FF" should appear in the display. Then turn the thermostat off and then back on. This is the reset proceedure.

I had the identical problem on my 04 Allure. Mine had "Dip switches" on the AC/Heat pumps on the roof. Pulled the cover off the front unit and one of the dip switches somehow got switched off. Hope this helps.

Still looking for next coach.

Hi Scott,

You need to go "up on the roof" and take off the shroud off the air unit in question. On the passenger side there is a small box with a cover that has the circuit board inside. The cover probably has a wiring diagram on it. Open the box up to expose the circuit board. The board has several wires going to it including a plug in wire that goes to the heater. There is a dip switch module on the board. The dip switches controls the zone and the heater that is wired to it. Some boards have got wet from moisture when the outside temp falls at night and rise fast in the daytime. Dometic failed to seal the holes where the wiring harness goes into the box from the inside of the unit. Warm air from the inside of the coach settles on the cold board and condenses. Duo Therm also provides control boxes to interface more than one AquaHot zone to a assigned air conditioner.

DuoTherm told me to seal around the wire harness and the hole they go through with rope caulk.
