Slow fresh water fill??

When filling my Magna from the city water connection after hitting the fresh water fill switch, the flow into the tank/system has slowed down to a trickle to the point it takes over 45 minutes to fill the tank. All faucets are similiarly affected when on city water. I have checked the internal whole house filter, in fact I removed it, no difference. The flow from the tank via the water pump is excellent. I am mystified. Where can the blockage be? There is a screen on the city water connection and it is clean.

It sounds like the problem is probably related to your pressure regulator. I think on some regulators there is a screen on the input that could be clogged. Or, after fifteen years it needs to be replaced. That regulator should be to the left and up in the access for your water pump.(my regulator was made by Watts)

Failed pressure reducer in the city fill connector? Other than that being blocked (or a frog in your water hose :) ), I don't know.

I agree with Fred, bad regulator or the solenoid valve to fill the water tank is corroded.
One last thought, vent hose plugged? As for the regulator, they do go bad and mine was stuck on 100 psi so it was worthless.
I installed a bypass hose and now use a settable external one.
For the electric valve, you can take it apart and clean it.

Thanks Fred and all. Fred you mean the big brass pressure regulator? I know exactly where that is. I know where the fill solenoid is, but whatever this problem is affects the city water pressure with that open or closed to all the faucets, not just the tank fill function. Could the solenoid affect both? Where is the vent hose? How do I get to it? Wouldn't removing the cap from the manual tank fill essentially bypass that ? Some of this may have to wait until I get back into warm weather.

Let me clarify something: I know where is the pressure regulator is as Fred says. On the other Forum others are discussing some kind of a check valve right at the city water fill that can become malfunctional/clog. I was not aware I have one of these. Is this the case? Rich 2002 Magna

Hi Rich,

What you read on the other Forum could be your problem, other than the pressure regulator, I had a senior moment. On most RVs there is a spring loaded check valve built into the city water fill, the one you can see and push with your finger. On my old Magna, CC went a step further and installed a quality brass check valve behind the city water connection, that could very well be your problem. There should be an access panel in the vicinity of the city water fill for you to see that check valve. There probably is enough crud in that valve not allowing the spring to compress to let water pressure in. To get you by, you can fill your tank via the gravity fill and use your pump. Or, if you are careful, and use an external pressure regulator, you can back feed the coach by way of the external threaded wash bay faucet. You will need a double female fitting and screw it onto your bay faucet, then screw your water hose onto it, then turn the cold water valve on. See if you can find that check valve screwed into the back side of your city water fill FIRST! If you are not comfortable, do not try to back feed the coach.
