New Owner

Hi Fellow Country Coach owners, My name is Ken. Two years ago I bought a used 99 40' Allure in Central Florida. Im a retired Cat Power System Engr. both working on Diesel and Generator sets. So far the Coach now has 65k miles is running great. I changed out all fluid's and Air Brake Dryer and Filter's and The Cummins has a new 180 dg. Thermostat. The Power Teck 7 kw generator also has all fluids changed and filters. Still on the Original ride height Adjusters had to replace the Muffler and Tip last Year but got the Muffler from NAPA. Just Steamed off the Tranny and Engine. I winter in Yuma Az. Own a Lot in Country Roads here too. Looking forward to sharing Ideas and Tips from you. My coach is powered by a C-10 Cat, so I will be eagerly awaiting any words of wisdom you have for the group.

Hi Greg, I have a friend who has an 00 C-10 Cat. I think its a Magna, I have been working with Gorden the owner since he bought the CC several Years ago. The first thing I did with him is he and I removed to Engine house cover. I inspected the upper part and sides of the c10, We found several Coolant and Oil leaks as at that time the coach has less then 30k miles. I with his help showed him how to repair the leaks and we repaird them. The Biggie is the all the hose clamps were loose and the charge air clamps were soo loose you could see whare turbo boost air blew out! We tightend them as it looks like the engine cover had NEVER been off. Several years later he had his Charge air cooler crack as this is an on going problem, I had him take a digital photo of the crack and here in Yuma we found a Welder who has a Tig Welder and he drove the coach in and had it repaird. I saved him thousands by having this done, I told him to let fellow CC owners know of this fix as you can have it done in the field. They charged him less the 100$ for this and as a teck. I said give him a big tip which he did! The next problem he had was a Radiator Inlet hose I believe rubbed itself a crack and while on I-5 just heading south out of Oregon he lost all is coolant and the engine went into limp mode, I was working at Cat again in Tampa when he called me and Said Take the Hose to a NAPA and they can find a replacment for you. He got the new hose and I said get new coolant and use gallons of distiled water instead the expensive Cat ELC! He did this and he is good with his hands and was able to reroute the hose to prevent this from happining again. Another tip make sure your coolant is fairly fresh as when it gets old is turnes to acid. Also you should take it to a Dealer and Have them put the laptop on it and check for codes and clear any codes, Change thermostat and Inspect Belts, Tensioners, and all hoses and ALL CLAMPS! and the Biggie remove the valve cover and inspect rockers, Rod's and Injectors and maybe check Inj. and Valve clearence.
