Coach Major Overhaul

Yahoo Message Number: 117588
We own a 08 Affinity #6837. My wife and I have enjoyed it for about 8 years now and as most us will do, have come up with a long list of items that we would like to have different. Additionally, since the coach is 10 years old I am interested in having someone look at the major systems to check seals, hoses, Etc.
We are considering doing a major restructuring of the salon and kitchen area. Update the electronics and fix all the little bugs that we never seem to able to fix. There is no one in our area that can work on our coach so we are thinking about driving the coach to Oregon from South Texas to do the overhaul. My question for everyone is; Who in the Oregon/Junction city area would they think would be the best suited to take on a project of this complexity. We've all had experiences with different shops but would like to entrust this project to one shop that can manage the project.
I would appreciate everyone's input. You can post your reply here or feel free to email at  if you would like to keep your relies confidential. I can also be reached by phone at 956-592-8000 during the day, leave a voicemail, I'll call you back.
The forum has always had wonderful input from many of you and I look forward to your responses.

That's easy.
Bob Vinson in Junction City.
I drive from N California to have him work on our 05 Allure routinely.
Bob worked for Country Coach as a top tech for numerous years.
He has a 2 bay shop.
Fact, I have recently seen a few coaches that are both under going a full on interior refurbishment. I have also seen the end result. Awesome....
He is fair and professional.

I'll second the Bob Vinson recommendation. We took our 08 Allure there 3 years ago. Between Bob, Brian and Kevin Waite, they will figure out and fix pretty much anything on a CC.

We've had great luck with the gang at Premier RV also in Junction City.

Please check with Eric Olstrom at 520-624-6024 in Tucson AZ. No one knows CC better chassis and house. He is an awesome cabinet builder and remodler. I've know him for many years and he does all the work on my 06 Magna. There is very little he out sources except upholstery. He does what he says and is fair on his pricing. Call me if you have any questions.

You will get a bunch of opinions on this, all of them good. I will throw into the mix Amazing Creations and Oregon Motorcoach, both in the JC area. We have had renovation work done by both of them and that is why I would recommend either one.

I would suggest a road trip and interview all those mentioned. You will find one of that just "clicks" with you and that is who you should go with.

I will surely second (or third, or whatever) the suggestion of Bob Vinson in Junction City. Over the recent years, he has done sterling service for me, both in Junction City and South California. Last I heard, he and Kevin Waite (Mr. CC parts) were still helping each other.  Oregon Motor Coach in Eugene has also been wonderful, but I think they are slowly losing the former CC technicians they had, some perhaps going over to Premier, also in Junction City. And I have never seen a negative review of Mr. Olstrom in Tucson (closer to Texas but not nearly as appealing as Oregon;-)).
As for interior remodeling, I can think of no one better qualified (in my opinion) than Dave & LJ's up near Kelso, Washington (not far from Portland). That shop built some beautiful cabinetry in the space formerly occupied by our not-so-splendid Splendide didn't washer/didn't dryer.

Ken, where does Bob Vinson work in Southern California? Is he like Matt Rossler where he spends winters in Palm Desert/Indio and summers in OR?

To OP, for all TV, home theatre work, I would recommend Matt ( Innovative Coachworks). He is outstanding. He is in Junction City in summer, Indio in winter.

Premier RV of Oregon would be my choice.

We've had Eric work on ours and we can't say enough positive things! Plus TX to Tucson is just a skip away.

I have been considering an overhaul to my 07 Inspire as well and considered Eric Olstrom. I am interested in new flooring, dishwasher installation, new cook top and heat exchanger upgrades for the hydrohot heating system. Anyone have similar work done that could share an approximation on the cost of this scope of work?

I understand that Bob is no longer going to South California. He used to be based out of Indio, but that's history now.

Thanks for everyone's input. I have grown to know a lot of you through this forum and respect your opinions. I have read it faithfully over the years and absorbed all of your experiences.

Looks like it's a toss up between Bob Vinson and Premier.

We'll need the shop to be fluent in the Intellec electrical control systems, I would like to replace the remote control system with something that is serviceable. I want to build a new layout in the kitchen and dining area, replace the flooring and upholstery, and build new upper cabinets over the couch. I read so much about the radiator failures that I want to look at mine and let's decide if it needs to be replaced before it splits on the road. I have an ISX 600 and it has given great service over the first ten years, I want someone who knows the engine to go over it with a fine tooth comb to look for possible issues that I might have missed.
Having owned big equiptment through my career I have always believed that preemptive maintenance always helps prevent breakdowns on the job. I want to inspect the slide systems and seals and redo the failed flat glass exterior window panels that exist in these later Affinity.
As you can tell by now I want a shop that really knows how this big rig is put together and has the experience and has seen most of the problems that have come out in these rigs. I am not price sensitive, I just want to feel comfortable as I start to use the coach a lot more in the future.

My coach is at premier due to the fact of all the response on this site. I can't tell you the attitude and respect they have for you and your coach. I have been dealing with there service manager Jim he was with Country coach for over 25 years and you can tell he understands your coach and how to fix your problem. Premier RV get my vote hands down.
