fuel gauge

I have a very erratic fuel gauge.  It will not move at all after fill-up, than after several hundred miles it will just drop. I have learned to just get fuel after 300 miles no matter what the gauge says.  Has anyone replaced the gauge or the sender?

Tom,
I have not had to replace either of them, but there are some good threads on iRV2 that might help you.

See http://www.irv2.com/forums/f112/stuck-fuel-gauge-305360.htm about replacing the sender.

The thread Fuel gauge stuck on full? - iRV2 Forums has some good info on testing power to the gauge and sender, so you can (hopefully) determine which one is causing the problem.

Good luck.

Mine started doing the same thing at the beginning of the summer. At 3/4 it starts to  work normally and is accurate down to at least 1/4. I have been resetting the trip meter after each fill up as I believe in Murphy's law.  I cant imagine having to replace the sending unit. Ugh!
