Neutral Chime Allison 3060

Yahoo Message Number: 10124
Hello

On my 95 Magna I have the dual display Allison Transmission which shows the current gear and target gear.

Frequently with the ignition key removed the "N N" for neutral lights up on my transmission selector and a low volume chime begins. Inserting the ignition key and turning it to accessory and back to off kills the display and the chimes.

This seems to be related to my entry steps moving, entry door closing, grey water monitor, Lp Gas monitor, and fresh water monitor toggle switches. When any of those switches are activated, the N N sometimes lights up and the chimes begin.

The monitor is a circuit board, and I cannot find a wire common to each of the above switches and the neutral monitor.

The event seems to be related to the house battery system only.

Has anyone experienced this event? If so can you suggest a fix?

Thanks

Dean

Dean;

Do you have a copy of the wiring diagram? If not, I can fax you a copy or email it. I've not had this problem but it sounds like you've got your wires crossed. Humm?

Steve, a wire short was my thought also. I do have the wiring diagram. I traced the neutral (tranny) wire and the grey water, LP, and Fresh Water switch wires to the monitor circuit board. At no point do they meet. I have to trace the entry door and steps wires now since they have just entered the picture of late.

Don't overlook the ground connections, circuits in part of the coach can be grouped on a common ground point. If that point is not staying at ground due to the current flow in the circuits it can have starnge effects on the other cirucits using that ground return.

Good Luck

Jim, excellent advice. As you can tell, I only get half the picture at one time. I will check the ground wires.

Thanks
