Packbrake and Air Filter

Received my 3 year supply from Pacbrake, 4 oz in each bottle. Made by Synco for Packbrake. In one of the posts someone suggested WD-40.
That might be last chemical to use. It is more of a cleaner than a lubricate. It also attacts dirt. Crawled under my coach and changed the air filter, original had not been changed in close to 40,000 miles. Napa carried the replacement for $80. My filter even had sand coming out in addition to plenty of dust. Fuel economy should improve. While under the coach I tried to determine which access panel was needed for access to the Packbrake. Noticed what looked like an access panel. Upstairs one appears to be in my closet and the step next to the bed. My slide is out and could not find any easy place to lift the carpet. I would enjoy hearing from someone that has accessed the panel for the first time. The carpet appears to be glued down. Thanks. John

On our Allure 2002 with slide, the hatch is located 9" from the left edge (passenger side) of the step, and about 4" from the front edge of the step. Hatch is about 40" wide, and tucks under the vertical carpet under the mirror slide. Carpet is stapled/glued to the wood. A couple of flat bladed screw drivers to get into the 40" grove that is 4" from the front edge of the step. Once lifted, another hatch is bolted down below it.

Herb, Thanks for the information. As I understand it, the carpet is cut 4 inches in on the step by 40 inches wide. Once cut, screw drivers are used to pry the carpet up which exposes the hatch. If not, does the carpet stay attached and bends once the front and sides are cut? Not sure about the vertical carpet tucking under the mirror either. I hate to cut into something unless it is done the right way. The old addage "measure twice and saw once" comes to mind. John 2002 Allure

on the 03 Allure, the carpet is attached to the hatch, and the hatch is held down with pop-up latches, so you can easily see the line where the two pieces of carpet meet.
If you can't see the hatch outline from in the coach, you could look at the hatch from by the engine, and get a feel for the size of the hatch and where you would find it inside.

Don't cut into the carpet. It is already cut and the pieces just butt together for a hidden seam.

Thanks for the help, is the break at the bottom of the step next to the floor or up against the mirrored doors? John
