Shower running hot & cold

1998 CC Intrigue: The shower has started running hot, then briefly ice cold, then back to normal. It continues this cycle throughout the entire shower. Saves on water because you don't stay in long but very uncomfortable. Any thoughts or solutions would be appreciated.

The shower in every RV we've ever owned has run hot/cold (while on the water pump) until I discerned the mystery of where to set the faucets. Once that's done, no more problems. For example, on our '98 Intrigue, I can't turn the shower's hot water faucet all the way up while on the pump, otherwise I get hot/cold. To prevent that, I back it up a little, along with the cold water faucet at ~3/4 on. It works for us ... on our coach.
Your experience may well vary, especially if your problem occurs while using "city" water hookup.

Are you using a separate water pressure regulator, by the way?

In response to the question about the use of a backup water presure regulator I would offer these thoughts. I always have one available and will use it if there appears to be any possibility of extremely high pressure. Usually the park management will tell you what there presures run, if asked and you can also observe the actual site conditions prior to hooking up. We usually start our winter adventures at Blazing Star in San Antonio where the presure ranges between 90 and 110 psi.

Why would you not use it? Especially when it can just be left attached to the female end of your water hose and left there.

The reason I don,t always use it is based on my belief that in low pressure situations it tends to restrict the flow rate somewhat. However, that may be my imagination at work. There is certainly nothing wrong with your suggestion, albeit better safe than sorry. While parked in San Antonio last year, I looked out the window at the rig across the road and saw a large volume of water coming from under the coach and out the bay doors. I went over and shut down the supply spigot, but a lot of damage was already done.

Reportedly a good water pressure regulator, like our Watts H560 ( http://tinyurl.com/5nr2p ) actually regulates pressure while not reducing water flow.

We paid $95K for our regulator ... but our Country Coach was included in the price .

We were dry camping for 1 week at a dog show on a hotel parking lot.
We were only using the pump. Haven't tried the shower on city water and i do have a couple of external regulators and wasn't sure whether to use them along with the internal or not. We'll try the setting options and see if that helps. Thanks

A variable flow pump would eliminate the problem.
We usually dry camp while traveling & are well aware of the problem of water temperature changes. CC increased our pump pressure to reduce the problem.
Two factors cause the problem: a pump controlled by on-off control & water storage bubble located in water heater. While pump is off, bubble in heating tank supplies both hot & cold, so cold flow is limited by many more feet of tubing. Pump on with water too cool or pump off with water too hot.
Two solutions are reasonable. One a new pump with variable control that will not switch on-off to control pressure. The Shureflo Smart SensorT 5.7 Water Pump is a variable pump, Camping World #24425 . Two, is a second storage bubble added in cold side of system. Shureflo Accumulator Tank, Camping World #2290, might be large enough.
Only the variable pump would completely eliminate the problem.
